Baylor Scheierman with the 30th pick 6′ 6.25? barefoot, 8′ 6.50? standing reach, 201.6 lbs, 6′ 8.25? wingspan. 38% from 3. He's 23 years old

Quinten Post with the 54th pick 7′ 0.00? barefoot, 244.4 lbs, 7′ 2.50? wingspan, 9′ 4.00? standing reach 43% from 3. He's 24 years old.

I was hoping for Cam Christie at 30, but he is beginning to climb the draft boards, seeing him now mocked as high as 20.  If we want a big, Kyle Filipowski out of Duke should be there at 30, five star recruit, good size, 35% 3P%, good passer.

Using our 1st round pick seems risky. The guy would lock in a guaranteed contract at a substantial number.

That said, I have completely stopped following college hoops so what do I know.

I don?t know the players but I like the reasoning.

I don?t think we?ll find an Al replacement at the end of the 1st round, but it could be a good spot to get a Kelly Olynyk type role player.

Kyle Filipowski fits that description well. He might never be better than Mike Muscala, but that?s still a decent Kornet replacement and someone that could pull the defense outside the paint.

If there is a potential Al replacement out there I hope Brad finds him.

The guys I really like are:


Future Sam replacements
Johnny Furphy - He'd be an upgrade on Sam.  He's a good shooter but also a scorer.  He can rebound.  Negatives are similar to Sam coming out.  Can he move his feet well enough to defend.  He also needs to spend a lot of time in the weight room.  He's a project and it's why he's available this late in the 1st round.

Baylor Scheierman - The lefty Sam Hauser

Bigs

Bobi Klintman - This is my favorite pick.  Can be a 5 out player.  NBADraft.net compares him to Christian Wood and John Collins.  Like all young bigs he needs to add muscle, develop his handles and further develop his 3pt shot.  I pray this is who we pick.

Kyle Flipowski - Kornet replacement.  Strong.  Developing an outside shot.  Not a good rim protector at his size but I think he can develop that skill.  He's tough.

Tyler Smith - Modern NBA PF.  Can shoot the ball, protect the rim.  He'd be a good PNR option rolling to the rim.

DaRon Holmes used to be my top choice but I've read rumors that Denver has already given him a 1st round promise.

Pacome Dadiet - 3 & D.  someone to develop to spell the J's.

I like him too. He's 25 and probably will go undrafted but I'd love to see him on our summer league team...

This draft has pretty brutal top end talent. But I am sure there will be some later guys that have very nice careers.

Just never know. Two of the league's current MVP's were drafted outside of the lottery.

Anyone familiar with either of the players projected to go 1 and 2 in this years draft?  Risacher from France is projected to go 1. He?s a 6?9?? wing. Sarr who is also from France is projected to go #2. He?s a 7?1 PF/C who can hit 3?s. Sarr looks like the better prospect to me.

I don't think that either of these guys is dead and shoulders above the next 30 or so guys...

It reminds me of the Anthony Bennett 2013 draft. The best player was Giannis Antetkounmp who went 15th. Rudy Gobert went 27th. Everyone else was either a bust or a role player....
