Really, though, the Celtics should be on a three game losing streak. They had no business winning that game last night.

Yeah we were due for a losing streak.

Oh, and it's January...aren't the Celtics supposed to start slumping at this point? Last year they started slumping around this time. The year before they shifted the energy after a bad start.

Swings happen.

The 70's Celtics (Cowens, Havlicek, Jo Jo) were infamous for their January slumps.
Two titles later, they worked things out.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

Curious, what would it take for you to put your starters back in this game?

25-0 run before the 4th?

Hopefully Svi or another bench guy takes the game ball away from the Bucks before the game officially ends

  • GOT IT!!!
The league has love schedule losses these days. Due to the three ball they have gone from like 20 points to anywhere from 30-50.

Credit to Mazzulla for benching the starters. No need to rise injury here

Maybe Mazzulla is testing them. Is he simply resting them and trying to prevent injury? Or was their effort so poor, that Mazzulla wants them to watch from the bench and soak in the embarrassment? Or did he want to see their reaction to being benched for the second half? It's one thing to accept the benching, and something different if the starters demanded to go back in and fight to get back in the game. I would have liked to see them fight back and not cower away on the bench.

Look at the bright side everyone. We’re not getting crushed in the 3rd quarter for once!

Lol did they really change the game that they're covering?  ;D

I'm sure they just love Joe resting the starters for the second half haha I've gained a little more respect for him for that, though his boneheaded decision to sit on his hands throughout that early Bucks run still irks me.

Ha! Joe did it and is sitting the starters. Good on him. Give the middle finger to the league for this scheduling.

Yep, and I hope he does something like this in his post game presser...

If Mazzulla has anything at all in mind other than resting these guys after the effort they have mostly given this season, then he is even more out of touch than I thought. I am pleased to see him rest the starters here, but should have been playing them less minutes all along. You gotta play your roster, take care of your players and live with some losses if they happen. Plus gives your backups a chance to develop.
