I?ve also heard, We?re going to nibble around the fringes, Mannix said during a recent episode of the KOC show. If you want Jrue Holiday, you can have him. Porzingis, I think is available, but they?d like to get Porzingis back long-term at a lower price point on his next deal.

Porzingis?s deal is set to expire at the end of next season. He will make $30.7 million. The Celtics are around $20 million above the second apron threshold.

not much of a surprise.  Zinger offers a lot for the team when healthy.  resigning him at a lower cost would be the best outcome but far from a surety that he would take a lower offer regardless of his health knowing that he is that unique in what he can offer a team

It only takes one team to overspend but with his health issues the last few years this upcoming year will determine what kind of contract he gets.  Also, 20m is a lot of money.  He seems to really like Boston so I could see a 2/3 yr deal for 20m per.  It's more then the MLE and if a good team doesn't have the cap space to sign in to a larger deal he may not have a choice but to accept the C's offer.

My first instinct was to think that Jrue Holiday would probably be a negative value contract that would take a first to move off, and Kristaps was at best neutral value. But there's been enough rumors and chatter of teams being interested in Jrue that I've become more optimistic they can move off his money and at the very least not have to give up assets to do so. Maybe all the chatter is just the Celtics front office working the room, but between the Clipper, Mavs and Kings rumors it seems like there's enough interest the Celtics may be able to get salary relief AND get back positive player/asset value, even if its just small value.

If that's true then maybe it's even possible they could get under the luxury tax and reset repeater penalties, something I've been pretty skeptical was possible. Of course that would mean being worse next year, but probably better to do it now then when Tatum is back healthy.

Tatum?s father, Justin, told ESPN?s Marc Spears that the Celtics star will miss eight to nine months, which would put Tatum on track to return around mid-January.

I think they could very easily be the 4th seed next year. Who is for sure better than them? New York, Clevland and Indiana and thats about it.

I?m good with a bad year, but if somehow they are looking pretty good and KP is healthy and there are reports that JT will be ready in February?.  there may be reason to start believing.  I?ll throw in - maybe Scheierman looks like a solid rotation guy and PP continues to shine as a starter.   

Watching Indy-OKC (and Cleveland, Houston, Detroit, Orlando, SA,?) there are good young players on good teams that will make those teams better over the next few years. The Cs don?t have that 22 year old that we think will develop into a force.
