Maybe Drummond can get motivated again to chase a ring. We need hungry, veteran ring-chasing guys just like how Dwight and JaVale were hungry chasing their 2020 rings.

Don't think too much.

Shams says Jaylen is "seriously considering" participating in the dunk contest.

I hope he does no such foolish thing on the glass floor of doom.

Hope the right name isn t there, despite I thought about Drummond earlier
Kornet or Q are OK 3d options this season and theres maybe à bigger need than KP insurance . This names are not really impacting PO time ; same as last year trading for Muscala.

Do a trade with our best friends the Nets.  Package everyone not name Pritchard or Hauser on small contracts. Take DFS for a real 3nD option  I saw Finney Smith isn't playing tonight I hope à sign !
Take Lonnie Walker for some more shooting from the bench with TPE. Give à first and 2 seconds to get the deal and fill the roster with min. This would really fill the needs I think.

He had a string of double doubles when Vuc went down. Not sure how he did defensively though. But it looks like he can still be serviceable.

I can't get over how fat and out of shape Drummond looks. No way he can play high level basketball. He is just showing up for a paycheck at this point. He is checked out. Not competing. Bare minimum only.

JB dunks hard, but he’s not really a high flyer. I don’t think he would do well in a dunk contest.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Woj has said multiple times the Celtics are looking for another big.

I will be surprised if the make a trade. Buyout seems more likely

I will be very surprised if at least two of Stevens, Banton, and Svi aren’t dumped.  Doing so would let the C’s flll their roster in the buyout market and get under the second apron; which does offer advantages for next year (allows them to use the Grant TPE until it expires in early July, and I think would let them aggregate salaries in a trade next year, since those two penalties apply if you finished in the second apron the prior year).

I think you're right on with this, since there's not very much that the C's can put on the trade table without disrupting the team's chemistry & performance.

In other words, if they still want to go for it this season (which they should), the best trade assets are basically low-ish value draft picks.

So there is an incentive to get under the 2nd apron this year!!!!!!

That is my understanding.  CBAFAQ was never updated, but I’ve definitely seen those listed as penalties that kick in for the following year if you finish over the second apron in a season, including this year.  What’s not clear to me is if the Celtics are considered over the apron in July (because Jaylen’s extension kicks in and Jrue picks up his option, for example) if some of those penalties apply to the Celtics anyway.  But I do know if they’re above the apron this year and below it next year, they apply all season (so if Jrue walks they’d be treated as a second apron team even if they’re under it, because they were above it this year).

Larry Coon is a pretty online guy, if anyone still uses Twitter or the like it might be worth asking him directly about this.

I deleted Twitter a couple of years ago (and Elon Musk has since convinced me that was the correct decision), but agreed, Coon does respond, and did once in the past for me when I directly asked him something.

I'm not sure that that's accurate regarding the penalties.

See here (Table on Page 190):  https://ak-static.cms.nba.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/4/2023/06/2023-NBA-Collective-Bargaining-Agreement.pdf

For instance, even if we were allowed to use the Grant TPE next season, it would hard cap us at the *First* Apron, I believe.
