I guess everyone else in the world will be rooting for Dallas because Luka and Kyrie are likeable fellas.

Well, except maybe the Rockets and Spurs, who are their fellow Texas rivals.

Did everyone forget that Kyrie missed practically an entire NBA season for failing to apologize for repeated antisemitic posts?

True but folks probably forgot all about it this year when he put up and shut up about it (as in, letting his on-the-court play dictate his character and all).

I don’t think Kyrie is as beloved on a national sense as you think he is.

And my Spurs buddies have already texted me with full Celtics support.

I know he’s only 22 and interviewing someone right after a series and season ending loss after having guaranteed they would win game 5 is not the best time, but Ant sounded very ungracious and sore losery in his press conference. If Tatum or Brown had sounded like thst after each of our losses the media would have had their heads!

I’ve seen a lot of Spurs fans who still have a lot of love for Derrick White and root for us because of him.

Similarly (and a little surprisingly), I’ve also seen a few Bucks fans pulling for us to see Jrue get another one.

Is everyone still so sure they prefer to play Dallas in the finals over Minnesota ?
Dallas looks very good right now, Doncic and Irving playing out of their minds on a highly motivated team.
One of our guys needs to put Kyrie on his ass in game 1, if for no other reason than the stunts he has pulled since leaving Boston empty-handed.
Remains my most despised player, possibly ever.

I’m not so sure. I would prefer to play Dallas over Denver for sure, but I think I would prefer to play Minny over Dallas. Because I’m expecting these finals to be close, either because Dallas play well or we shoot poorly. Once it’s a close game it brings those two guys into the game if it’s a trading buckets situation.

Against Dallas we need to make our greater depth and talent reflect on the scoreboard, you don’t want it to be a single possession game heading into the fourth because those guys are as clutch as anyone in the league. And as anyone who has followed along with the Celtics in the game threads this season, things don’t always go according to plan  :police:

I still think we are heavy favorites and deservedly so, there can be no excuses at all from our team if they take the Mavs lightly because “they’re only a 6 seed” or “they didn’t deserve to make it, we’ll wipe the floor with them.” Joes no.1 priority over timeouts and schemes and all thst technical stuff should be to get it in their heads thst Dallas deserve to be there and they shouldn’t be taken lightly. Because taking other teams lightly is this teams No1 issue, making games harder than they should be.

If we play at our best and make our shots but defend,  think we win 4-1. If we don’t make our shots but defend I’m guessing 4-2. If we make our shots but don’t defend, and let those guys get going then it might come down to clutch plays at the end and I don’t think we want that scenario  :-\

I may have had a different opinion a few weeks ago, but right now, DAL is clearly the best team in the west.  They have beaten LAC, OKC, and MIN, and none of these teams really came close to beating them.  Kyrie has conceded to adjusting his game to play alongside of Luka, and all the other pieces are embracing their roles.  You can quibble that Kawhi was hurt, OKC is young, MIN fell apart, whatever, but DAL is the best of the west.

There will be game threads and series prediction threads to go into more detail but this should be a very entertaining series for all NBA fans.  I like where the Celtics are at going into this.  Physically we are in pretty good shape, Porzingis kind of TBD, but I think more importantly, this time, we are the team with the prior finals experience.

I expect that Luka and Kyrie will continue to do what they have been doing, but it is the 4-6 role players on the Mavs that are the question.  How will they hold up to the pressure and emotion of the finals, as compared to the Celtics second tier/role players.  On paper, it would appear that BOS has a big advantage with the players below the top 2, even more so with Porzingis coming back.

Let's go Celtics!!!!!

Experience is the best teacher. Boston has been through this. They have lost at this level. They know what to expect.

Dallas has one guy who has been through this and he's not much of a leader.

Luka's never been this far. If you look at the teams that usually win it...they have home court and/or they have the experience factor of playing in the finals.

There’s a narrative that Luka isn’t as good as his press clippings because he’s never carried his team to the finals, but he’s ended that this year.

My stance since the beginning of the season was that if the Celtics were healthy and didn’t beat themselves, they should be champions this year. They could beat anyone from the West, including Denver.

They haven’t been 100% healthy, but they haven’t beaten themselves either, and I don’t see the Mavericks being able to even without Porzingis.

This isn’t Luka’s year.

The Los Angeles Lakers now have a first-round pick the team can use to add a young prospect or as a trade piece in an effort to add another star player.

The New Orleans Pelicans could have taken the Lakers' first-round pick this year, No. 17 overall, as part of the 2019 Anthony Davis trade, but opted not to do so. Instead, the Pelicans are opting to take the Lakers' selection in next year's draft, reports ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

They want the Fakers to waste their first round pick on Bronny I guess  :police:
