Kris Middleton looks cooked. He just looks like that knee is never going to be right. Still play no defense as a team. I am less worried about the bucks than I am the Cavs.

He got hurt again last night. Wouldn't be surprised if he's out until March probably.

Unless Giannis AND Lillard both are putting up video game numbers in a consistent stretch I just don't see MIL as a threat in the East anymore.

Cavs are now the 2 seed. I still expect MIL probably to end around the 3 seed but Philly without Embiid might end up dropping to the play-in tournament. So that's something to watch out for if they end as the 8 seed lol

I think Milwaukee will bring someone in but it probably won't be a massive impact. My guess would be:
1. Boston
2. Cavs
3. Bucks
4. Knicks
5. Pacers
6. Heat
7. Sixers
8. Magic

Same. I would love for Chicago to be the 8 seed for obvious reasons

Remaining records needed for every team still eligible for the 40/20 rule

BOS: 2-7
CLE: 8-3
MIL: 7-1
NYK: 7-1
PHI: 10-0

––––––––––––––––––

LAC: 6-4
OKC: 5-3
MIN: 5-3
DEN: 5-3

Last year we had 3 (BOS, DEN, MIL) and the trend once again continued that a 40/20 team won the title

so Boston, probably Cleveland and then the 4 teams out west will likely get there

West is gonna be a bloodbath. I hope the Clippers-Nuggets play a series together healthy, that'd be dynamite.

[dang] I read the c's were interested.  I thought he would have been a very good addition.  Disappointing

Would of had to be the C's first this year to beat an early second from Detroit. Looks like C's weren't interested at that price.

Feels like a random move by the Pistons.  Do they win 11 games instead of 10 now?

I'd guess they really don't want to set the all time loss record.

Also he's restricted after this year, so he could be there long term. Its good to have competent wing spacers when developing players.

That said a 6 win team trading an early second for a 28 year old wing who is expiring is still dumb.

Is there a significant drop off for rookie contracts between first and second round players?  I don't know but if so it could be Detroit that wasn't interested.

The drop off from pick 30 to 31 can be about $1.4 million in year 1, so arguably very high 2nd rounders are more valuable than pick 30, or certainly the difference lessens.

Also, it would have been Utah who wasn’t interested, since they’re the ones who got the pick from Detroit.

The drop off can, in theory, be that big. but in practice it isn't.

Using actual numbers the #30 pick this year signed for 2.4 million year one, the #32 pick signed for about 1.8 million. That's a difference of 600K. That's not nothing, but the idea that second round picks are suddenly worth a lot more than late firsts is somewhat overblown. Would you rather have the 32nd vs 30th in specific situations due to money savings? Sure. But Utah isn't really one of those teams. 600K isn't going to change much about what they do this summer.

Its more likely Boston just wasn't interested in trading a first to get Fonteccio becasue they didn't view him as some big upgrade.
