Jazz have a really strange roster. It’s Markkanen and a bunch of role players.

Is Markkanen a role player?

I guess depends on your definition, but I view him as the third best player on a contending team (at best).

I think he’s pretty good. Made the all-star team last year. Definitely the most valuable player on their roster.

I’m unconvinced. 25ppg one- way players are generally worth less to good teams, especially with the way scoring numbers are inflated now. I’ve always liked Markannen, but he’s a bad defender and his offense isn’t good enough to build a contender around as either a first or second option. He would be the 5th or 6th best player on the Cs.

I do think he could be a  really good third option if he’s backed up by a defenders at other positions.

I think Markkanen could give a contending team about what Porzingis gives.  People thought Porzingis was not that good until they got to see him on the Celtics.  I feel Markkanen is on a similar level.  That may be 3rd best on a team like the Celtics but that does not mean Markkanen is not a good player.

I agree offensively. He'd be really good playing off a 1st an 2nd option efficiently. Part of his problem is that he can't defend any position particularly well. Kristaps is a good defender though.

Banchero has a lot of Melo in him. The way he drives. The way he uses his body. Similar size and quickness. Handles. Shiftiness for a powerful forward.

Did anyone see what just happened in the Spurs game? Pop just went to a mic and told the fans to stop booing the FT shooter for the other team. So weird lol

Really??

EDIT: Saw the video.  It was Kawhi at the line, so no wonder the Spurs fans booed.   I guess that announcement was years in the making.  Joe better not do that with Kyrie at the stripe tho.

So Orlando beat the Nuggets tonight.   Big game on Friday with the Magic.
Looks like they might be legit this year.

As legendary as the man is for the organization, not even he has the right to tell fans how to feel. It’s not like they were throwing stuff on the court. Those fans pay good money (in large part for his exorbitant salary) for those seats. They can cheer or boo however and whomever they like. Didn’t seem like they were crossing any line.

But I guess he didn’t want Kawhi’s feelings hurt.

Jalen Suggs looking like a potential D White type PG. A top defensive PG with solid all-round offense.

Maybe a good long term target for the Celtics.

It was very awkward and I think the fans booed even louder after he did that.  ;D

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yup, the bolded seems to have always been the rule.  Not sure why Pop decided that THIS GAME is the one he is going to stick up for the visiting team? lol
He didn't seem to mind in all those playoff games when he was winning titles with Tim D, Robinson, and all those guys.

I liked how Frank Vogel immediately called a timeout after the Warriors stole the ball and scored in wide open transition, despite Suns leading 109-95.

That's the sense of urgency I need from the C's coach.

Excellent decision by Kerr to ride the hot hand and keep the unit on the field that getting the dubs back in game, while Curry is still sitting. Something Mazz can note on.

I am happy to see Max Christie start at SG for LAL. It doesn't look like he played that well but I like him as a part time starter (16-22mpg) at SG if Austin Reaves continues to come off the bench.

Gabe Vincent is a strong alternative. Start Gabe and D Russell together in the backcourt. Go with two combo guards. That is probably their best option if they want to go with Reaves as a 6th man.

I have not liked LAL's bigger lineups where they have played a SF like Cam Reddish at SG. Not enough ball-handling, passing or shooting. Too deficient in each of those areas. Also in speed & quickness.
