That Giannis ejection was something else.

Maybe the Clips would be winning if Harden was allowed to be the system

That was ridiculous.  He didn't say anything.  He wasn't standing over a fallen player.  The ref has some splaining to do.  I'm guessing that tech gets rescinded.

I agree.  Mannix pointed this out. It wasn't even the baseline referee who made the call either and he was looking right at the play.

Half court referee trying to make a name for himself or something.

The Giannis ejection is a good example of what I was whining about in the game thread last night.

Poor officiating infects every single game in the NBA nowadays, and it has become difficult to enjoy the product as a result.  We as Celtics fans don't get dealt an unlucky hand; EVERYBODY is victim to this crap.  And maybe this is just recency bias kicking in, but I feel like it has gotten a lot worse in the last couple of years.  I feel like I could enjoy a basketball game as a neutral five years ago.  You always had nutcases like Joey Crawford, but I feel like everybody is a Joey Crawford now.  You have soft ejections, techs handed out for hanging on the rim instead of taking a header on the floor, techs handed out for complaining after blatant shots to the face go uncalled, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

It's frustrating.  I don't think the NBA will attempt to improve it unless they think it's hitting them in the wallet, so I feel like my only recourse is just to stop watching.

Should they have ejected no bag for that? No, but they should start calling him for using his elbows  like a

Back to wanting Joe fired.

Yeah, it's horrible this year. When I'm watching the hideous calls go both ways. The refs just plain stink. They really have it out of Porziņģis...

NFL is bad also

It's all the sports now, including college football, baseball (umpires), etc. And it's not even the obvious names across sports like Angel Hernandez, Joe West, Jerome Boger, Tony Brothers, etc. it's literally everyone. Unfortunately I chalk it up to both the increase in gambling (and Las Vegas getting sports teams btw), as well as the fact that these refs are covered and never seem to be liable for anything even if it's an egregious mistake or ejection

If any of the athletes/coaches talk up, they get fined. But again, refs can do whatever they want

Don't remember where it was mentioned before so I'll just put it here: The people who wanted to trade for Jalen Smith to be a bench big for us were right. He's absolutely balling out this year. I dunno what his defense is like but he's scoring a ton on limited minutes. His per 36 avgs are 24.1 ppg, 13.9 rpg, and he's even made 8 out of 12 3s in 7 games played.

While I doubt he was ever actually available (the time to get him would have been when the Pacers did), just wanted to mention how well he's been playing and how I was wrong to be skeptical based on his performance last year.

He's always put up good per36 counting stats. That was never the question with him. The question was whether the team offense and defense was better as a result of his counting stats (especially the defense). This year, his offensive rating is crazy high. Part of that might be related to who he plays with, but it does show he can contribute to a good offense.

Defense still is bad though.

Reminds me of Brandon Wright.
