That Siakam max contract next summer could be one of the worst deals in the league.

The PF position is pretty awesome this year.

Top talent = Giannis, Tatum, Durant, PG13
V good talent = JJJ, Markkanen, S Barnes, Zion, Siakam, Banchero, Towns, Randle

That is a top 12 guys.

The next middle rack is impressive. T Harris, Draymond, A Gordon, Jalen Williams, Cam Johnson, Evan Mobley, DeRozan, H Barnes, Jerami Grant, Kuzma, Jalen Johnson, Jabari Smith, Miles Bridges.

That is another 13 guys. 25 players.

Bottom 5 = I do not know who Miami is starting these days. Jovic recently. Go with him. Derrick Jones Jr. Isaiah Stewart. Taureen Green (could go with him at SF and LeBron at PF). Sochan.

I was trying to figure out where i have Siakam. I am thinking #11. Randle #12.

I think its more about years than dollars with him. A max deal for three years? Totally fine, especially becasue the pacers don't really have any bad money on their books.

But a max deal for five years? Nope, I'd worry about those final two years.

I don’t think the Pacers can have made that deal without intending to go at least four years, and most likely 5.

Ya maybe, its just going to depend on what his market his. His full max starts at about 42.9 million on a 143 million dollar cap. Not mnay teams project to have that much space. Basically only Detroit, Orlando and Phili project to have that much space. He makes no sense on a Orlando team that has Forwards but needs shooting, or on a Detroit team that's terrible. So really Phili is Indiana's main worry.

My guess is 4 years at his max with the Pacers. That would be 192.2 million over 4. Max any other team can offer would be 184.5, so still his best offer on a team that will be solid and give him a staring role.

It hasn’t once crossed my mind during a game this year that ‘we could really use Grant right now’.

I don't miss his play or his mouth!

TP ..from Tommy himself I think.

The Mavericks have kept tabs on Jerami Grant in Portland, league sources told HoopsHype. Perhaps Kyle Kuzma could be added to this list in the coming weeks. Rival executives point to some combination of Josh Green, Jaden Hardy, Grant Williams, and draft compensation as Dallas’ best chance of making a trade for a frontcourt upgrade. – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype

Grant Williams being floated as filler.  I can't believe too many teams will want to take on his contract.  We'll see.

Hey everyone, we are offering Josh Green, Jaden Hardy, and Grant Williams (about $18M total salary), who wants to give us a good player in return?  To get Jerami Grant ($28M), they may need to add 4 picks.  TOR got at least one useful player for Siakam (Bruce Brown).

I think you'd see that a lot of teams view Green and Williams has useful players.

Totally forgot about Jerami Grant. A bunch of teams could use him..

NBA Execs: Portland more likely to trade Malcolm Brogdon over Jerami Grant

As a result, rival executives say Portland is viewing Grant as a positive trade asset, whereas some were hoping the Blazers would sell high on Grant early in his five-year contract as more of a neutral asset. Thus, executives believe Blazers guard Malcolm Brogdon is more likely to be dealt than Grant if Portland makes a trade at the deadline since he’s considered less expensive to acquire. Rival executives who spoke with HoopsHype believe a fair asking price for Brogdon is a first-round pick and salary filler. However, despite an initial belief from various executives around the league that Grant would become a strong trade candidate following his extension with the Blazers and after trading franchise star Damian Lillard to the Bucks, the Blazers have signaled to rival teams that they won’t part with Grant easily ahead of the deadline. In Portland, Grant is viewed as a good locker room leader, a compliment to the team’s core of young guards on the roster, and has maintained his two-way versatility and efficient three-point shooting at a career-high clip of 41.2 percent. – via Michael Scotto @ HoopsHype

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Are the Warriors postponing games because a coach died?

They have to. Give them time and space for them to grieve and mentally recollect themselves. Nothing wrong with that.

I guess ESPN had to flex out the second-header DAL/GSW game with BKN/LAL though.

He apparently died at or right after a team dinner.  That has got to make it much more emotional for the entire team.
