I assume the team tried to trade him, and nobody wanted him. So the next best thing is to try to get a reasonable deal done. Anything above $5M-$6M is an overpay...Roy's comps make sense.
Why would you assume that?
Because he's not that good and he's been at a position of general strength. He doesn't particularly fit into our high switching style on defense. I don't know what team would really line up to pay him.

That's okay! I get that perspective too. I hope I'm wrong and he shows up in a big way this year. He'll certainly have the opportunity to do so. If he doesn't seize it this year, then he's going to stay a 6'1 26-year-old with limited agility who scores 5-7 points per game on 41% shooting. I hope he makes the leap -- I've generally always liked him and it's cool when he goes off and shows his potential. The team needs him to get there.
