The NFL can be cruel. Dallas may end up 13-4, but still need to win 3 road playoff games in order to reach the SB because of the Niners and Eagles in the conference, and the Eagles likely winning the division Dallas is in. Meanwhile the NFC South may have an 8-win division winner

Further evidence for my belief that being a division winner shouldn't give you an automatic playoff berth. That division just blows and should not have anyone make the playoffs.
the schedules are too imbalanced to keep a division winner out

I've heard that before, and I understand the idea. I just think the NFL needs to say, "Sorry, your division sucks, none of you can go to the playoffs." You know, make an executive decision. ;D

I always think back to the Matt Cassell season, when the Pats went 11-5 and missed the playoffs. That just shouldn't happen.
that is actually a pretty poor example of your complaint since they played 8-8 San Diego that season and lost 30-10.  Patriots played a weak schedule, San Diego played one of the more difficult ones. That season shows exactly why the division leaders should be in

Much like FSU this year, Matt Cassell's Patriots were not a top 5 team and didn't deserve to be in the playoffs that year. The Patriots did win their last 4 games, but those were Seminole-like second rate wins. If the Patriots had made it that year, they weren't going to win too many games.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

What a drive from Drew Lock, 92 yards for a touchdown to take the lead 20-17 with 28 sec to go. Helps to have some good receivers like Metcalf and Smith-Njigba

That was an absolute gift for Dallas

Philly reminds me of the 2019 Pats. Great start to the season largely aided by an easy schedule + some close wins ("escapes"), but once the schedule gets tougher in the 2nd half they get exposed. PHI have now lost 3 straight, and they feel like a team that could go down early in the postseason.

Also Jalen Hurts has not looked good. In fact he's looked extremely mediocre. Kind of goes to show you that in today's NFL, you do kind of need weapons as well to succeed. As great as Burrow/Mahomes/Allen are, they have legit weapons and when they miss 1 or 2 guys (like Tyreek Hill leaving KC) they also look meh at times. Brock Purdy without Deebo and his RT looked pedestrian for a few weeks earlier this season as well.

The best teams in the league have legit weapons and a stacked roster, and the one outlier is probably the Chiefs but they have the best QB in the league (Mahomes).

It is kind of funny that the biggest game of the year is basically meaningless for both teams.  Sure if they win, they almost certainly lock up the 1 seed, but the loser merely has to win last 2 to lock up 1 seed anyway. And since if they meet in the playoffs it would be the neutral field, game doesn't even matter for that.

I don't know if it was all that as I do think he may have tried to play if the Jets were 7-7 right now

Okay, so throw away that example, but I still don't think that a team that gets only 8 wins should make the playoffs, especially if they're from an objectively bad division like this year's NFC South.

League investigating on the Chiefs-Patriots game, suspected of using under inflated footballs.

Here we go again, Deflategate 2.0.

The Chiefs must've deflated it. They needed an advantage to win this game right?
