I saw a quote from Zeke about Dantley and Aguirre.

Zeke said Dantley was a very good player but an inflexible one while Aguirre was flexible. That is why it worked with Aguirre.

I know in the past Zeke has commented about how Aguirre was willing to come off the bench in 1990 for Rodman to start at SF. Something Dantley would not have done. Aguirre gave up touches and shot attempts. Something Dantley would not have done. Aguirre allowed the team to revolve around their three offensive guards. Something Dantley would not have done.
This is sort of what I'm hoping for - he was actually my backup pick for another eligible player, but once I had a few seconds to look at my team I realised I needed a wing who could fit in with the existing players and play at a high level without demanding too many touches (kind of like when we added Derrick White to our modern day team).
"...unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it."

Ah man I missed Rip being gone. Great pick.

With the first pick in the umpteenth round, the Washington Generals select The Pillsbury Doughboy, Elephant Drawers, The Muffin Man, Fat Daddy himself... Mark Aguirre!

A solid defender who could go for 40+ if necessary, and the highest-available assists per game of available small forwards, I believe.

Plus:
3xNBA All-Star
2xNBA Champ
All the good stuff (not to mention those A+ nicknames).
Finally! His prime was unreal, and right near his contemporaries in English, King & Dantley.

An old friend.  Mixed feelings.  But a very good player when engaged in his prime.

Sacramento Kings select: Rajon Rondo

RONDOOOOOO!

I love Rondo. I know a lot of people were off him by the end, but he is still my favourite Celtic point guard.

Back to back Celtics point guards! Loved Rondo and IT, very different players, but probably the best point guards we've had in my lifetime (I hate Kyrie too much to count him)

I may be reaching a bit with this pick, but it is no secret I can use both shooting and defense, so the Nets will select perhaps the 1st guy to be known as a 3 and D player, 3 time NBA champion, 8 All Defense Teams including 5 1st team, and a career 39.3% 3 point shooter, Bruce Bowen
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

You are on the right track here. I am in the same boat as you defensively and Bowen was at the top of my list.

Isaiah Thomas.
He was a guy I missed when making my draft boards. I thought of him later on and meant to add him in. Nope. Forgot again.

Great pick. IT's scoring punch is a major weapon.

I was looking at Bowen's WOWYR (with or without you - how the team does when you are on the court vs off the court) score and that may be the first advanced stats metric that I have seen that is a huge booster of Bruce Bowen. Gives him a monster number. Like a Cylde Drexler / Russell Westbrook level number.

Ooh, Hornacek is nice. He was great next to KJ on those late 80s early 90s Suns teams that made long playoff runs. Also played a similar albeit reduced role next to Stockton.

I saw some stat there that had that Hornacek, Stockton and K Malone Big 3 as one of the top 4 or 5 Big 3s of All-Time. They had a 6 year run together. Two Finals runs, two WCFs, one WCSF, one first round exit to Hakeem & Drexler. Pretty much a 50 win team every year. Maybe 2 60 win seasons.
