The Jazz select Artis Gilmore
Finally! I've been trying to commit to not taking guys I have previously, but both D Will and Artis were guys that I would have had a hard time resisting. Loved Artis

Nice pick. Going to be difficult picking between his best Portland season vs his best SAS season, but another strong player there. Was a perennial All-Star for the best part of a decade, and 5 All-NBA teams to boot.

I had Artis 2nd and Aldridge 3rd on my list for today. I didn't pay much attention to PG's but Deron is solid value as well.

I have 1 guy standing above the rest this round, but do have a full llist so I hopefully won't be scrambling around like a crazy person at my pick time today.

I was bummed I didn't get Alvin or Price, but I think Cheeks will do really well in this league. Elite defender, great passer, played well with greats, a champion, HOFer, and I do think he'd easily have 3 point range today.

He retired as the all time leader in steals and is still 6th all time. He is 15th all time for assists. He has the 53rd best VORP in NBA history, 53rd in ORTG, 39th for AST%, and 85th in WS (99th for OWS and 92nd for DWS).  He played at a high level for a decade+ and is probably really underrated all time as he was often overshadowed by the true greats that he played with i.e. Dr. J, Moses, and Barkley.

I'm curious to see who that guy is.

I don't want to start any controversy or drama by criticizing another team here.  I like all of your individual pieces, with the possible exception of Amare (who I think would have to have a very specific team constructed around him).

But, with your team, I'm curious about it's spacing.  Amare, Gasol, Dantley and Cheeks all played almost exclusively inside the arc.  How do you get around that?
I'm leaning into it.  How do teams guard that?  And for all the emphasis on the 3 ball, a shot at the rim is still the best shot a guy can take.  Up tempo, cutting driving, high/low post, etc.  Play to your strengths and let others try to stop you.

Also, still plenty of time to pick up shooters

And mine. Good thing I’m reading Zen and the art of letting go of potential draft picks.

With the 1st pick of the 5th round, the Chicago Bulls select...

Deron Williams!

Ahh, great pick. I had a top 3 at PG of Penny, Price and KJ. Then my next two were Chauncey and Deron.

Originally, at the start of the draft, I was hoping Deron would be available with my late 2nd round pick so I could pair him with Alonzo or B King as my 1st round pick.

Love his game. Easy to forget how good Deron was in Utah. He was phenomenal. Some big playoff performances too against Houston, Golden State, San Antonio, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets.

Sorry, I was away from the computer for a bit. Just caught up on the picks made. Three great picks.

Denver select Jack Sikma. Sikma is going to be our backup center and play some alongside Alonzo as well in a twin tower formation.

Fun pick. Was looking at him as a potential target this round. That weird pivot post jump-shot of his was unstoppable! Great rebounder, good defender and passer, champion. Really strong player
