Josh Hart's contract extension will be in the range of around four years and $75 million, according to Stefan Bondy of New York Daily News.

The contract will reportedly be signed sometime in August.

Bondy adds that Immanuel Quickley will sign a larger contract extension before the October deadline.

Not done yet but that will be a terrible contract. Not even sure Hart is worth the MLE with how dodgy his outside shot is. Nice player outside of his shooting but his shooting really holds him back. He had a nice hot stretch after joining the Knicks which has given them a false sense of who he is. They will regret that deal and they won't be able to trade him.

And this Quickley contract? You are going to pay $20mil a year for Quickly? Really? He is a good bench guard but again otherwise limited. Not a strong outside shooter. Not that efficient. Not much of a defender. Not much of a passer. Why are you paying him $20mil a year?

The New Orleans Pelicans have been looking to add another center this offseason. Jonas Valanciunas is in the final season of his contract. Valanciunas has sought an extension, but none has come from the Pelicans as of yet.

Dang. Sounds like Jonas is on his way out in New Orleans.

I like Jonas next to Zion because he is a skilled center who can stretch the floor. It sounds like the centers they are targetting are mostly low skilled paint dweller types who will clog the paint for Zion. Do not like that.

The NBA keeps putting up these spending guard rails but teams just keep overpaying role players.

To some degree this is a byproduct of the draft and rookie contracts that limit player's earning potential for several years. It's also a byproduct of the ever-increasing salary cap, because $20mil. is not the same as $20mil. five or ten years ago.

Think about it this way - the NBA's entire goal, as an organisation, is to limit costs and maximise profits. Player contracts are part of that. In other words, guys like Immanuel Quickley are making $20m/PA because collectively the NBA has decided it's worth it to pay him that if they can get away with paying a guy like Steph Curry $51.9m/PA - even though Curry's real worth on the court (and off) is way more than two-and-a-half Immanuel Quickley-s.
"...unceasingly we are bombarded with pseudo-realities manufactured by very sophisticated people using very sophisticated electronic mechanisms. I do not distrust their motives; I distrust their power. They have a lot of it."

But who are the Knicks bidding against for Quickley's services?

I would love Jonas V as a Celtic. Have always wanted him here. Great rebounder, good scorer, super physical presence.

Derrick Jones Jr has signed with Dallas on a one year deal. That is a pity. I would've liked to have had him here as a 3rd string PF.

In other news, the Knicks gave Josh Hart a ridiculous contract extension amounting to 4yrs $81mil. $20mil a year for Josh Hart? I am not sure he is even an MLE player.

He's a really good all around player who rebounds his position well. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the size on new NBA contracts so if we look at it in perspective its probably/maybe/kinda market value?
ok fine

Agree, $20mil per year for Hart seems about right in the new CBA world.

I remember reading that Derrick White wasn't worth $20m per year when we traded for him. Now, as our starting PG, very few will make this claim.
The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing.

I don't trust his jump-shot. Too up and down. Too undependable. I like his game outside of scoring but it is tough to be a good quality starting SG if you can't make jump-shots.

J Hart got on a roll after joining the Knicks midseason and hit 52% of his threes but only 2 attempts per game in 30mpg. It was fluky. He seduced them with fluky shooting. Of course, his shot went down the toilet the minute they were in the playoffs down to 31% per game. Knicks had terrible trouble with floor spacing because they desperately need that 5th starter to be a floor spreader which J Hart is not.

Dude is 27. He has been in the league 6 years. He has had an inconsistent shot for 6 years.

I don't see $20mil. I see $10mil.

Warriors are working out like every veteran you can think of including snell, Juan Toscanini Anderson, Dion waiters, Kent bazemore and Harry Giles.

That definitely needs to be his new name.

Grant is a good proxy.

I'd rather have Grant myself. A more dependable shooter. Doubly so given he plays PF instead of SG where shooting is an even greater priority.
