Daryl Morey on what he wants in a James Harden trade: "If we don't get either a very good player or something that we could turn into a very good player, then we're just not gonna do it."

Right decision. Trading Harden for a lousy return will hurt them more  this season than keeing a moody Harden around will hurt them.

Daryl Morey: "A lot of the depth we lost, if we had done something to bring them back, it would have hurt our ability to compete down the road."

He says they're the only contender poised to have significant cap room next year.

Philly keepin the cap flexability for next summer to reload around Embiid with T Harris and Harden both coming off their books.

Quote
Daryl Morey: "We have some players who are a little bit hard to play with."

Mentioned Harden and Embiid in particular.

Fair.

Maybe we get to see a comeback of the Mound Round Harden.

Because I was bored

Philly - Brogdon, Coffey, Kornet, Hyland, BOS 24 1st
LAC - Harden, Rob, Pritchard, Hauser
Boston - George

Boston would need to add some vets but would clearly have the best starting 5 in the East and perhaps the league

Starters - White, Brown, Tatum, George, Porzingis
Bench - Horford, Brisset, Davison, Banton, Walsh, Champagnie, Griffin, Scrubb
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

I think George could be a great fit next to the Js, but I'm guessing the Sixers would rather just have George than Brogdon, Kornet, and a Boston 1st.

But the Clippers would want more than just Harden, so what are the Sixers adding.  They have no Rob to send.

Kemba signs a one-year deal with AS Monaco.

Best of luck to him.  That's a beautiful area of the world.

So the trade for Boston is?:

Brogdon, RWill, Pritchard, Hauser, Kornet, 2024 1st
for
Paul George

I don't even know where to start.  I guess first, I am not interested at all in Paul George for $46M this season and $49M next (player option which he isn't going to pass on).  And even if the Celtics did have him, I would not want to play him as a PF, he won't hold up, he probably won't hold up anyway.  And you want to have a bench that requires playing Davison, Banton, Walsh, Champagnie, Griffin, and Scrubb as the 8-13 players?  Brissett as your #7 is questionable enough but the rest of that bench might not win in the G-League.  Other than Griffin, it is our summer league team that couldn't win in the summer league.

I had to look it up, Kemba's earned $195,522,829 in 13 NBA seasons, just in salary, probably some additional income too.  I am with you wishing him the best.  I liked him as a player, both college and NBA.  His wheels gave out.  It happens.  Nothing to judge him for.  But why keep playing?  If you want to live in Monaco, just buy a villa and live in Moraco.  He could probably buy into the team if he wanted.

Probably because he loves playing?  He can ease into a lighter playing schedule in Monaco and see how much he likes living abroad.  Seems like a good pre-retirement plan to me.

need to add some vets to bench, no question, but you should always upgrade the starting unit when you can.

That is an understatement.  I hear Rudy Gay is available.

Bulls keep Ayo Dosunmu for 3yrs $21mil. Okay deal.

The Bulls backcourt is now:

G: A Dosunmu, Jevon Carter, Coby White
G: Z LaVine, A Caruso

I still do not understand why they signed Jevon Carter. They had three other PGs in Dosunmu, C White and Alex Caruso. Chicago are wasting money signing all these backup PGs. They need to clean up their roster. Get their house in order.

Get DeRozan, LaVine and Vucevic some real help. Quality starters. Above average starters. They are short at least one major player to be anything significant in the East. That needs to be a Big 4. They aren't talented enough to be a Big Three.

Hawks sign Wes Matthews. Well done Wes. It has been a couple of years in a row now where I have wondered was this the last we have seen of Wes Matthews but he keeps managing to stick around.

Played some useful basketball for Milwaukee last year. One of their more reliable wing defenders which speaks to how dodgy their wing defense was last season that a 36yr old guy who lost a large amount of his quickness & mobility through injury was still one of their better dwing efenders last season.

The problem with this is any halfway decent free agent vet has already signed with someone.

Raptors sign Garrett Temple 1yr $3.2mil.

How old is that guy? It feels like he has been around forever. 37 years old. 14th season. He has done very well to stick around in the league for as long as he has without ever being much of player. I don't think he was ever anything more than a below average bench player. 14 years. Well done.
