Darn. Jeff Green signed with Houston for a 1 year, 6 million dollar deal. I would have really liked him in Boston but Houston overpaying for role players again.

Silas got the shaft when he was coaching there.  They made him coach a bunch of immature kids.  Now that he’s fired, they’re bringing in some vets and Udoka is going to get credit for a turnaround, even if that turnaround is the play-in game.

They continue to target vets who can establish a new culture and teach the kids how to be professionals. It's a smart move.

To provide a counterexample, remember when Philly was loyal to Brett Brown and thought he deserved a shot to coach the team after they stopped tanking? It turned out to be the wrong move.

DiVincenzo to Knicks; 4 years $50 million
That's a decent deal. He's a solid role player
Yeah, I like that. A Thibs type of player. The glue guy 5th starter that they need to round out their starting unit.

Now they gotta get to work on their bench.

Another Nugget bites the dust. Denver's bench is bare.

They'll be doing well just to get to 30 wins. That roster still sucks. Houston are spending a lot of money but they ain't spending it wisely.

A desperate reclamation project with a big defensive guard. Just like Ntilinka last year.

Last season laker team looks better than the upcoming laker team

I definitely agree. The reaction of a few to signing backup players from other teams has been very baffling. Lakers fans thought they could maybe get irving, trae young or Lilliard through sign and trades. They ended up with gave vincent and taurean prince and people have complained the league is unfair.

I agree that the Laker off-season has been overrated, but why does last year’s team look better?  Haven’t they brought back pretty much everyone in the rotation other than Schroder?  They also added Vincent, Prince, Reddish and Hayes; nothing special but still decent and I would say they’re at least on par if not a little better than last year’s team

They also lost Lonnie Walker, who was useful in the playoffs, which is probably a wash with Prince (even if they are different players).  Reddish and Hayes haven not shown anything in their careers that say they’re rotation caliber players for good teams — they’re just different deck chairs than the departed Beasley, Bamba, and Gabriel.

I’d rather bet on Vincent than Schröder at this point in their respective careers, but marginal improvements in their 7th and 9th men isn’t a home run of an off-season as some are making it out to be.

I did not realize they lost Lonnie Walker. I thought he was still under contract for another season. It would be a shame to lose him.

There are a decent amount of guys in top euro leagues that could play in the nba if they wanted to but enjoy being a star,  a shorter season and a comparable salary to third string nba. I’m curious why he decided to come back

Especially when you factor in the decline of LeBron & the injury likelihood of Davis. LeBron was good in the playoffs, but he doesn't have the physical capacity to take over games like he used to. He's still a high level offensive force, but he doesn't get to the line much, doesn't finish as well inside the arc, and his shooting isn't as good because defenders can get more up in his face. His defence is also quite suspect. Don't think any of that will improve next season.

I'm sure Davis will have another good year, but he isn't consistent enough as a #1 option anymore.

Agree 100%. Lakers needed a significant improvement this off-season to offset lebrons aging and provide a reliable backup to Davis. Jackson hayes and gabe vincent are not it. I have to imagine Lebron isn’t thrilled based on how vocal he has been about getting irving through back channels.

I don't know what people are expecting. It's extremely difficult to build a contender around an aging superstar that is still paid like a young superstar and another one that is often hurt. If they listened to James' wishes every time an expensive guard became available, the team would be even shallower than it is now. I'm not saying the Lakers front office haven't made their share of mistakes, but they just miraculously filled out a roster that was bone dry of talent during the Westbrook experiment.

If we had traded for and rehabilitated Rui Hachimura last year or found an Austin Reeves out of nowhere, Celtics fans would be building a statue of Brad Stevens.

I mean we got Derrick white, brogdon and porzingas. By comparison build the statue lol

What has happened with Patty Mills?

He was signed by Houston but immediately traded (sign and trade?) to Memphis as part of the Dillon Brooks deal. Was this a three team trade with Brooklyn? How did this work?

Crowder back to Milwaukee on a 1-year deal, and Alex Len is staying in Sacramento for the 1-year minimum.

Patty Mills was under contract this season with Brooklyn.  He was traded to Houston and then re-traded to Memphis.

Why do Memphis want Patty Mills? Where does he play?

They signed D-Rose as well.

G: Ja Morant, M Smart, D Rose, P Mills
G: D Bane, L Kennard, Konchar
F: Z Williams, D Roddy, J LaRavia
F: J Jackson, B Clarke, S Aldama
C: S Adams, X Tillman

They have GG Jackson to add as well. Maybe he will be a two way contract.

They are already at 15 players (without GG Jackson) and haven't signed a starting level SF to replace Dillon Brooks yet. All 3 of those SFs are question marks heading into next season.

Might they start Luke Kennard at SF? Or go small with M Smart and Bane at SG & SF?  What are they doing?
