If this trades goes through, the Celtics would have 3 legit scorers. With that in mind, I hope Smart can play within himself and be a role player (no need for showtime plays, as they can lead to turnovers). Hopefully Sam Cassell can instill this in Marcus. Was Sam a great player, no, but he played his role perfectly.

Derrick White made brogdan expendable.

Pretty much. Derrick coming back with that improved 3 pointer/having All-Defensive season made Brogdon a luxury.

I don't agree.  Derrick was great in the playoffs, but he was up and down all over the place with his offensive production during the regular season this past year, and the year before he completely vanished at times in the playoffs.  I love what he did late in the playoffs last season, but I'm still not 100% confident in relying on him to be a consistent strong producer for us offensively or relying on his three point shot to be as reliable as it was last season.  Hopefully he will prove my concerns unfounded!

That being said, if we are able to bring in Porzingis then he replaces (and likely even upgrades on) Brogdon as that consistent #3 scoring threat, so we would no longer really need Derrick to fill that role.

As long as we have three core offensive options that we can rely on collectively to carry the offence then we can afford to have the rest of the guys (Smart, Horford, White, Pritchard, Hauser, Muscala, Griffin) take turns in helping out.

No more Zinger. Trade fell apart per Woj.

The three-team talks on a Porzingis-Brogdon deal with Celtics, Wizards and Clippers have fallen apart, sources tell ESPN. Sides are moving on per Woj.

So the Cs are stuck with Brogdan and most likely Grant williams. Oh joy. Twice now they have tried to move Borgdan and can't.

I was just about to say "I am surprised the trade hasn't gone through yet". Well, that is why.

Might be for the best.

Not sure Porzingis was worth the risk of giving him a long term contract given his injury history. Not sure it was worth letting him walk away from nothing as a FA in 12 months time at the cost of Brogdon if we didn't give him a contract.

Adios PP. Might as well trade him to move up in the draft.

Back to having a glut of guards and grant williams who Joe does not play. What a disaster. Brogdan with a bum elbow and Joe trying to figure out how to play Smart, White and Brogdan.

Zinger must be opting out, perhaps the agent got a promise from a team

And in the end this team will be pretty much the same as it was last year. No real depth with the bigs. 3 or 4 guards. No real depth at wing.

Concerning having two guys coming back off of injuries in Gallo and Brogdan.

Maybe they were too far apart on the contract extension.

The Wizards are still working on ways to get Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics in an opt-in and trade scenario, but it won't be in a three-way with the Clippers, sources tell ESPN. Porzingis still has the ability to decline his $36 million player option and become a free agent.

Always the Clippers who screw things up
