Looks like nerlens noel was waived by the kings. I guess I would take a flier compared to kornet but think he is clearly not a good player at this place joining saric, zhaire Williams, markelle fultz, okafor and simmons in a mind blowing list of busts.
I don't know if he's able to stay on the court anymore, but he is a very positive defensive impact guy when he can. Nickagneta would often talk about how Noel used to surround himself with the wrong crowd (he knew him vaguely through his sons, from memory) which he attributed his stymied development to. Hard to know if that was really the case, but a disappointment regardless.

Should have been at least a Marcus Camby type defensive stud.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

Just now saw he been arrested

Yeah.  Allegedly his girlfriend wouldn't let him back inside their hotel room, so he beat her up once he got back inside.

If true, he should be permanently banned.  Instead, he'll be back in the league, at worst, next season.

Porter isn’t a good enough player to get the Miles Bridges treatment.

You would hope not.  This isn't his first concerning incident.

Didn't he get kicked out of Cleveland for throwing a fit because his locker was moved to be closer to some newer players? Definitely a lot of smoke to accompany this latest fire.

Wow, hopefully ban for life…no one should ever hit a woman or kid, NEVER!

I think this is possible, but more likely he just doesn’t find another contract.

Miles Bridges did the same kind of heinous act.  Chocked his wife until she passed out, broke her nose and gave her a concussion and that dud get's to play this year and they counted his time missed last year as his suspension.  NBA obviously doesn't care and it's a shame because this guy should not be playing either.

https://nypost.com/2022/07/01/hornets-miles-bridges-wife-mychelle-johnson-shares-photos-of-alleged-domestic-violence-attack/

100% agreed, although I wouldn't link to the new york post. The sad reality is that any time a player is involved in anything like this the teams are always going to weigh how much value they bring to the team on the floor versus the PR hit that the team will take for signing them.

Then you factor in that most sports fans don't really care about violence against women in any meaningful way - as in, a way that matters to the teams' bottom line - and it's pretty easy to see why thing's unfold the way they do.

NEW YORK (AP) — Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr.'s alleged attack on his girlfriend in a New York City hotel room left the woman with a fractured neck vertebra and a deep cut above her right eye, prosecutors revealed at his arraignment Tuesday.

Porter, 23, is charged with felony assault and strangulation in connection with the incident early Monday at the Millennium Hilton near the United Nations in Manhattan. Prosecutors said he didn't stop until his girlfriend, former WNBA player Kysre Gondrezick, ran out into the hallway covered in blood.

Lock him up (I naively said).

Wow what a garbage human being. Houston is in the process of trying to build culture with high character guys - they should cut him, and give those minutes to Amen Thompson, who, by all accounts is a high character kid and hard worker.

Sure, but that’s because she thinks it was a problem for her and Udoka to solve, and the Celtics should have stayed out of their business.  Which is really just the same logic as blaming the “other woman” rather than her cheating partner — a classic reaction, and maybe understandable, but also not one rooted in objectivity.

I'm not here to defend how Nia Long responded, just that her response to the Ime situation hardly shed much light on what happened. Nor that there is any sort of moral equivalence between what Porter Jr did and what Ime did (or might have).

All I’m saying is that Nia Long’s disdain for the Celtics is no evidence of anything, because she cannot be objective in the situation.  I do agree that Udoka’s transgressions are not remotely equatable to Porter Jr, even without knowing the specifics of what Udoka did.  There was never any hint of anything criminal, whereas if Porter Jr. avoids jail it will be a continued sign of a failed criminal justice system with respect to domestic abuse.  That said, I also don’t think the Rockets are an organization that would choose the moral high ground over winning — I think Porter Jr’s problem with the Rockets is that he doesn’t help winning enough, and thus he will ultimately be jettisoned.  His non-guaranteed contract after this year also works against him.

But comparisons are unnecessary, in my opinion, especially of different generations. To conclude, Jokić’s quality and size are not at all questionable,” Toni added.

I love my man Dino, and Drazen and Divac were great players, but what have they done that Jokic hasn't accomplished?

The only guy I can't realistically compare Jokic to is Prime Sabonis.  Was he a top-5 center of all-time?  It's so hard to project.

The question of "how good could they have been if they'd grown up in a culture that embraced basketball as fully as today" is an interesting one.

I am glad Toni finds that Jokic's height is not up for debate.

I was in Spilt back in June.  Toni Kukoc murals and stuff all over the city.

Cool city. Highly recommend.

Petrovic is also of course a different story too, as he didn’t get to come to the NBA until 25 and then of course died at 28, with his career really starting to take off in his third of fourth seasons.  But even then, you’re right — it’s more a question to what could they have done than what hasn’t Jokic done.
