Everyone reported to camp except

Zinger
Brogdon

Per Bobby Manning

Let the drama begin!

Can’t seem to find any report on this yet. Perhaps Malcolm hasn’t fully healed from his injury?

I should clarify I don’t think it’s actual drama.  Like most reporters who need to get through Twitter algorithms, Manning is not immune from trying to create drama, and I could see him provoking a little here.  Just as he did in mid-July when he tweeted, with no news to report “It’s been getting weird on the Brown front.”

If the article above is correct, training camp actually starts October 3.

Yeah I don't think they are even allowed to report to camp yet:

I didn't see Svi mentioned, either.  Maybe I missed it.

It wasn't camp he referred to, but training in Boston, I think.

It is funny how this Brogdon thing has kind of taken on a life of its own.  It is certainly possible that there is an issue.  There have been quotes from people about "smoothing things over" or "working through things", so there is something to this.  The question is whether it is to the point where Brogdon isn't going to show up or something like that.  I would be surprised if it got to that point, but who knows.

My take is that some mending of fences was probably needed immediately after the trade discussions.  I think most people, business or not, would be fairly shocked if they found out that they were on the verge of being traded without notice.  We saw it with Ray Allen.  We saw it with Marcus Smart, who was promised the week before that he wouldn't be dealt.  The fact is, bosses in the NBA (like Brad Stevens) frequently hide information from, and even outright lie to, employees (i.e., players like Brogdon).  It's got to suck.

But, Brogdon has always struck me as a professional guy.  Neither he nor his agent have publicly criticized the organization, nor have they publicly made a trade demand.  He's got another 13 days or so to report; it doesn't strike me as odd that he's not in Boston early, particularly due to his injury.  (I know that a lot of the guys have homes in Boston.  Does Brogdon?  I can understand why guys like KP, Svi and Brogdon would want to enjoy as much of their off-seasons in their comfort zone as possible.)

It seems like Brogdon has houses in Wellesley and Atlanta. Given that he's from Atlanta (and presumably still has family there), I can understand wanting to stay in Atlanta for an extra couple of weeks, especially since he doesn't have any kids that would have to be up here for the start of the school year.
I'm bitter.

Everything about Brogdon’s time in Boston tells me that he’ll approach this professionally.

Note that despite actually being traded AND having been told he was safe, Marcus Smart celebrated his wedding with Wyc, Brad, Joe, and former teammates.  That’s a model for how senseless holding grudges is. It’s a business and life is too short.

I wonder if Malcomb Brogdon got invited to the wedding?  They should have gotten him in the picture.

I know JB, White and Wyc were there.  I'm not sure about others.

I keep forgetting White is bald. Man, he has an enormous head!

Interest anyone in a Brogdan and second round picks trade for Hield and theis?

Now that the pacers have decided to move him Boston could be a legit destination. Would put more ball handling in Tatum and Pp would really be counted on. Buddy would spread the floor and give them a legit shooter off the bench

Prob could add a cheap pG like Austin rivers to provide depth. Theis would provide the 4th playable big.

With guys having non guaranteed deals it gives Boston the ability to reshape the roster if needed

Hield and Theis? Sign me up right away. Another insurance big for this team. Hield is pretty solid and would complement this team. Pacers probably no due to Brogdon injuries (history) though.

If Theis comes back will he have the distinction of being the player with the most returns/comebacks with the Celtics?

I think the drop off from Brogdon to generic bench FA/Prichard is more substantial than you think, and Theis/Hield may not move the needle enough in exchange.

I do agree that Brogdon is significantly better than PP. But, I recently saw some report about JT playing even more point this upcoming season.

Hield is an incredible shooter and good scorer (comparable to Brogdon in scoring), rebounds well & passes decently. Not a great defender, but has good enough size to not be constantly abused. He is also super durable - 5 regular season games missed over his entire career!

Theis is also a solid 3rd string big. Helps insure in case of injury, and we all know Brad loves him.

White / Pritchard
Brown / Hield
Tatum / Hauser
Horford / Brissett
Porzingis / Williams 3 / Theis
