Tatum had 0 points in the 4th

That can’t happen

He’s boom or bust in the 4th a lot.

Game turned with the Celtics up 12 with a chance to go up 15 in the third and brown turned it over. From there it was all downhill.

Brown was playing hero ball all game and when he does that it usually ends poorly for Boston

Yep, was thinking the same.  Still wearing rollerskates, playing too much ISO/hero ball and making boneheaded decisions

7 missed free throws. Just bad basketball.

It’s like he had to match Tatum’s game 7 performance and was quite selfish with his performance.

Lo and behold, our star is out of rhythm

Kind of happens when you freeze him out and stop going to him after a masterful first half. Another coaching failure that he can't even recognize. Already getting coached circles around.

Ya I'm sorry can we not do this? Tatum just dropped 51 points like 4 days ago, now we have to pretend he's so mentally weak that him not getting the for a couple minutes caused hium to turn it over 3 times in like 60 seconds?

Nope. He made some mistakes. His fault, not the coaches.
It was the coaches fault that he didn't play an acceptable amount. The coach sucks

he played >41 minutes, more than any other celtic.
And he should have played more. Butler played more. There were critical moments when he should have been inserted (and fed) and wasn't. Conversely, Brown played too much. White did not play nearly enough

joe deserves the blame for plenty but JT’s playing time is not one of them.

should joe have called more timeouts and told the team to get JT the ball? certainly, but we don’t know if that happened or not. if tatum wants to be the man, he has to demand the ball and take charge in crunch time. he did a lot of standing around in the fourth quarter (another disappearing act), and then turned it over a lot when he did get the ball. that’s tatum’s fault, not joe’s.

your constant defense of tatum is unfounded and tiresome.
I criticised him several times in this thread alone. But continue getting grumpy at made up scenarios

made up scenarios such as tatum didn’t play enough? you’re the one making stuff up; don’t get mad because you got called out for it. many things went wrong tonight, but tatum’s playing time was not one of them.

Mazulla stuck with Pritchard when he was doing NOTHING. Should have put in Gwill at least he could have played some D. Miami basically gave us no space to shoot 3s. And the 4th quarter turnovers were outrageous.

Fire JOE tonight!!

What did grant do to get buried on the bench? He can help. Same with Hauser. They need their shooting

Very strange decisions by Mazzulla.

His little 3d quarter tantrum during the tv timeout was yet another embarrassing, immature incident for him.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

yeah, the clipboard throw, followed by the walk away from the huddle mid-timeout, was high school level cringe. he’s not a leader of men and needs to go asap.

not playing grant is a massive head-scratcher. he seems to be a good matchup vs. the heat.

Remember when the Celtics won with defense? They ranked third in defensive rating during the season, (even if it didn't feel like it), but they just allowed at least 115 points for the eighth time in the playoffs.

It literally didn't happen. He had 6 points in the 4th. What you mean is he had 0 field goal attempts. But that's because he went to the line three times and turned it over three times.

It was funny when he threw down the clipboard softly because he really didn’t want to break it lol

Had to leave and just got home, just checking the box score, we let them shoot 55% overall and 51% from 3, hard to win any games when the opposition is shooting like that
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

The Heat scored 45 points in the third quarter and, in his pre-4th quarter interview, Mazzulla mentioned offense as the first and second reasons why the game changed. Go figure!

We held the Sixers to less than 90 points in two consecutive elimination games, but the offense is the key, Joe? We can’t wait until Joe gets a clue or to face elimination to step on his toes, vets have to do it now.

What we can’t have is Lowry, Strus, Vincent, and Martin scoring 15 each; that was not happening under Ime.

We need to pick what we’re shutting down: Butler or his teammates.

I’d let Jimmy play 40+ MPG and have to score 40+ PPG, but shutdown his teammates like last season. He’s a great player, but this is a marathon and eventually the workload will be too much to sustain for 3 more games.

The Knicks chose to make it tough on him (still averaged 24/6/5) and got torched by the others, worn down, and out-hustled by the end of the series. We can’t have that.

tonight was 100% about defense, or lack thereof, in the fourth quarter. everything else pales in comparison.

good post. TP.
