Plumlee would have worked last offseason since the 17.1 TPE expired 7/18/22. Reddish fit the 5.9 exception which expired 2/10/23. And Hachimura fit the 6.9 exception which expired 1-19-23. I'd just as soon have gone with Reddish and Hachimura. Point is, they could have gotten even deeper than they already are, but they didn't. We go with what we've got. That being said, Grant Williams needs to play. Period.

I was hoping for Hachimura.

Hachimura cost three second rounders.  Trading for him would have meant the Celtics had zero 2nd rounders left through 2029.  We used a lot of draft capital that past couple years.  Not all of it perfectly, but it was expended all the same.

When is the last time the C’s hit on a second rounder. Ryan Gomes?

Glen Davis?

Oh, right. Looks like he was actually drafted by Seattle and traded to Boston. 2007 draft..
Depends on the definition of hit, but E'Twaun Moore had a decent journeyman's career in the NBA.

Yes. But it’s a little too much for me to accept the premise that Hachimura brings 2-3 titles and the team as constructed brings zero.  But yes, if he was the difference between zero and 2-3 titles, he’s worth many, many 2nds.

Exactly, is Hachimura any better than Grant Williams?  Is Grant Williams the difference maker on a title team?

Hachimura would have been a nice pick up.  He has some use as a bench player.  3 seconds would have been an overpay for us (and 3 seconds from us is worth less than 3 seconds from LAL).  I suspect that Hachimura would have been behind Grant and Hauser in terms of rotation so probably the 10th guy.  Hachimura would likely have been an upgrade over Muscala as the 10th guy but 10th guys don't usually decide championships.

He had a couple of decent seasons, but not for the Celtics. I would define a “hit” as a player that was in the regular rotation for the Celtics.  Not a third string player.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I don't think there was any available big man who would be seeing minutes on this team right now if the C's had signed him. Muscala has barely seen the floor and I don't know who was out there that was much better than him.

I do wish the C's had gone after Jared Vanderbilt. I don't know if he counts as a big or if he could've been gotten given he was part of the bigger Lakers deal but I'd love to have him on the Celtics.

None of the players mentioned should be seeing meaningful time on this team in the playoffs.

And if the Celtics 8-12 players were on another team, they would likely get more playtime and we would be wishing the Celtics had added a player like that.
