I don't understand Detroit going after Wiseman. They have Jalen Duren who is their center of the future and is currently doing well for them. They have Isaiah Stewart who is also doing well for them. Another body in Nerlens Noel. Another big man in Marvin Bagley.

Why Wiseman? Where are his minutes coming from? How are they going to develop him?

It doesn't look a good situation for Wiseman. Bad team. No clear role. Lack of available minutes. Don't like it.
Maybe Detroit was inspired by the Celtics and wants to run double bigs for 48 minutes.

I know this was a little tongue-in-cheek, but I do think they’d like Stewart to be a full-time PF, and Bagley has also performed better as a 4 than a 5.

I don’t think the Wiseman move will work out, but I also think they’ll be happy to shove 24 minutes a night in his direction while they tank the rest of the season, and hope it pays off in an improved Wiseman next year.

All the same, the Hawks were willing to give up 5 picks for Bey and 2 more picks to dump the necessary salary to stay below the tax.  I think the Pistons would have just been better off with the picks.  They’d have been able to make use of them over the coming 7 seasons.

Buyout predictions...

Terrence Ross - BOS

Will Barton - DAL

Russell Westbrook - MIA

Reggie Jackson - PHX

Nerlens Noel - PHI

I don't think the Magic will buy out Beverley, and I Don't think Danny Green, Justin Holiday, John Wall, etc. will be big enough factors for a contender so they aren't really worth predicting.

Those seem like good predictions.

I'll add I think Kevin Love goes to Golden State, and Olynyk to Clippers OR 76ers

Doesn't sound like the Rockets will buyout Green and Holiday after all.

I kind of want to see Westbrook and Beverley both go to the Clippers and help them go on a deep run

Neither Kevin Love nor Kelly Olynyk are getting bought out (although I'd be amused at Olynyk getting bought out after people on this site insisted the C's should give up a first round pick for him).

The Memphis Grizzlies have been prepared since July to trade every future first round pick and pick swap to the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant, sources told ESPN's Zach Lowe.

The Grizzlies, however, were unwilling to include Ja Morant, Desmond Bane and Jaren Jackson Jr. in any discussion.

I would've made that deal of Jaren Jackson for Durant. Can you imagine that Memphis team? They would have been the team to beat in the West. Worth it.

I wouldn't 100% rule out olynyk. Utah owns their pick this year and might decide to tank the rest of the season.

Ainge would have to calculate that the value of tanking is greater than the trade value of KO next year.

Yep and James Wiseman got traded for a bunch of 2nds. Bet the Warriors are really glad they held on to that 1st round pick vs trading it for proven players that could help them win another championship.

Why in the world would love want to leave a dark horse contender for a team with one the worst records in the league? It also isn’t like he would get tons of minutes with Davis and bamba and Lebron playing major minutes.

I expect Danny Green to sign with Lakers after being bought out by Rockets.

Danny green was cooked even before his most recent injury.

They can always rest Olynyk to play the younger guys if they want, but more realistically I think they’ll keep playing their best and expect to get passed.  You want your team to build winning habits, not losing habits.  That said, I’m personally excited for the possibility of an Utah-Minnesota play-in game matchup.  Jazz win, they’re in the playoffs with a lottery pick from Minny.  Jazz lose, they get their own lotto pick.

Heard Gary Payton II failed his physical. Does that void the entire associated deal?

Oh YIKES. What's complicated is, it's a 4-team trade.

They could all try to rework it again, but that'll be a pain

Just in: A failed physical exam of Gary Payton II has placed the Golden State-Portland-Detroit-Atlanta four-team deal in serious jeopardy, sources tell me and @anthonyVslater. Payton's core muscle injury could sideline him for up to three months following a Warriors exam.
