Reports saying D'Angelo Russell was unhappy with Gobert, was criticizing him openly and complaining about the new look T'Wolves ... causing disharmony within the Wolves organization.

This makes me so happy that he’s a Laker now.

They traded one headache for another. LOL

The situation had become untenable over the past week or so, multiple team and league sources close to the situation told The Athletic, all of whom were granted anonymity so that they could speak freely. Two sources described the situation as “toxic.” And while Lakers owner Jeanie Buss was known to be against the idea of waiving Westbrook, sources say there was a strong sense from the coaching staff that it might be necessary if no trade was forthcoming.  – via Jovan Buha, Sam Amick, Sam Amick and Jovan Buha @ The Athletic

But when Ham turned his attention to Westbrook and his specific individual struggles, sources say the future Hall of Famer appeared to take it personally. As had been the case so many times before, when the coaching staff struggled with Westbrook’s unwillingness to be held accountable for his play, Westbrook wasn’t hearing it. – via Jovan Buha, Sam Amick, Sam Amick and Jovan Buha @ The Athletic

Not that I disagree btw, but I'm starting to also think Gobert is a problem too. First Utah, now Minnesota. Guys won't say much publicly but it does sound like a lot of his teammates (past and present) get annoyed by him for some reason. I personally think he's kind of overrated too, he gets this rap as an elite defender but every time I watch him in a big game he gets cooked

And sorry but when I'm thinking about Gobert I also can't forget when he basically mocked COVID-19 then touched all the mics bizarrely in a press conference, then soon after he tested positive, so did others and the NBA was shut down during the pandemic

Still can't believe MIN made that massive trade for him

If Haywood gets bought out he'd be a perfect fit.

"Gordon Hayward
He’s not a rim protector, nor does he bring muscle to the middle of the action. But he’s a 6-foot-7 floor spacer who offers the kind of high hoops IQ that fits well on a team like the Warriors.

Hayward, 32, has been a starter his entire career, but it might be time to move to a reserve spot if it means an opportunity for a deep NBA playoff run. Shooting only 29.4 percent beyond the arc on a bad Hornets squad, that number likely will rise on a quality team. He’s a good player on the far side of his prime who could come available."

Covid Gobert? What could his problem be?  ::)

I don't think there's any reason for them to buy him out during the season.

The off-season is a different story.  At that point, they could stretch his contract if they'd like.

We’ll never get his name right I see.

He still has a huge player option for next year.  I don’t see him giving that up to play for the minimum for a contender.  He’s clearly shown that he prioritizes money over winning.

Maybe he gets bought out over the summer if he can line up an MLE deal, but he’s also not worth even that and I doubt he has the awareness to realize it.

Hmm...  are we talking full MLE for four years, or the Taxpayer MLE for one year and a player option?

I'd gladly give him Gallinari money.

Probably not happening but he'd be a good fit.

That would cross off two potential options.

I don’t think he’ll get a taxpayer MLE.  His availability is too unreliable.  In his healthiest season of the last four, he managed 52 out of 72 games, and even in that year he missed most of the playoffs.  On top of that, his shooting has plummeted this year, with a TS% of .538.

If the Hornets stretch him and half of his dollars above the minimum goes back to Charlotte for a salary offset, then yeah, he’ll have a bunch of teams calling him to come play for the minimum.  But if Charlotte is only going to release him if he takes a $7 million paycut that he can make up elsewhere, I don’t see him getting that.  His game is showing a ton of decline right now, on top of (or perhaps due to) his never ending stream of injuries.

It’s interesting how Houston doesn’t buy guys out.  It was very surprising to see Schröder stick there after the deadline last year.  I’m not sure what’s up with that franchise, but they seem to have something approaching a no-buyout policy.

I love Hayward's game and continue to think he's an ideal fit next to the Js. The way he plays the game is the same as the way Derrick White plays the game. They just play the game right on both sides of the ball. They consistently make the right plays in a way that, over time, helps their team win games.

I did think about Hayward but I gotta be honest, I just don't think he'd even want to come here lol. Poor guy probably feels he's been cursed since joining Boston with all the injuries and some of the other shenanigans. I also think Brad Stevens was a factor in him coming here, but CBS is no longer the coach.

But if they could work it out, I'd be all for it. Guy has injury concerns, absolutely, but even if he could consistently give us around 10-15 MPG that'd be sweet. And frankly, a lot of the buyout options out there also have some injury concerns/risks. That's just the nature of it.

I don't understand Detroit going after Wiseman. They have Jalen Duren who is their center of the future and is currently doing well for them. They have Isaiah Stewart who is also doing well for them. Another body in Nerlens Noel. Another big man in Marvin Bagley.

Why Wiseman? Where are his minutes coming from? How are they going to develop him?

It doesn't look a good situation for Wiseman. Bad team. No clear role. Lack of available minutes. Don't like it.
Maybe Detroit was inspired by the Celtics and wants to run double bigs for 48 minutes.
