Horford, a five-time All-Star, will earn $26.5M this season -- with the new deal beginning in 2023-2024. The extension eliminates the possibility of a repeat of 2019 when Horford left the Celtics for a more lucrative free agency offer.

Celtics now have their starting frontcourt of Al Horford and Robert Williams signed for a total of $21 million next season.

Combined they would be the 62nd most expensive contract currently on the books next season.

One downside is that I assume this is infuriating Grant Williams.

Good for him, good for the C's, but I really hope we've found 'the next Horford' in short order though. He's absolutely integral to the team, which is risky because he's old (not unlike Chris Paul and the Suns).
