I do have to wonder though if the constant whining is paying off. For a guy that had great playoff success, was averaging almost 27 points a game, was an All-Star and All-NBA player, before this year, he wasn't getting superstar foul calls and lots of fouls against him weren't being called.
Brown similarly, didn't and still does not get those calls even though he is bodied hard on most drives to the basket.
This year, Tatum's free throw attempts have taken a significant jump. His free throw attempts have gone from 5.3 to 6.2 to 9.1 in the last three seasons and I don't see any real difference in the type of shots he is taking or the amount of contact being made against him by defenders. But he's now getting to the line a lot more, so perhaps complaining by him to give him the types of calls stars like Giannis, Harden, Lebron and Durant get has actually worked.
Meanwhile a guy like Brown who doesn't generally complain, at least not nearly as vociferously or as often as Tatum, and drives as much as Tatum, still is only going to the line 5 times a game, with only very slight to marginal increases in his FTAs.
