Jayson tatum just received the worst tech I’ve seen in the nba in a while. I’m actually laughing

And he's right.  The refs are getting progressively worse season to season, to the point where they're in full "look at me" mode.

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba/news/jayson-tatum-technical-foul-kevin-durant-ja-morant-celtics-thunder/pbtazluyo8skxuqkbxdisuf8

Tatum was frustrated by himself for doing something dumb.  He's not showing up the refs.  Scal says it on the tape, and JT summed it up after the game:

Quote
Jayson Tatum laughed when asked about his technical foul for clapping after he had just missed a layup and then fouled an opponent.

“Anybody in the arena, anybody watching the game, could have seen I was frustrated with myself.”

The NBA needs to look at this nonsense.  No player should be given a tech for that, but the NBA needs to ask themselves if they really want refs putting their fingers on the scales to screw over top-five superstars.

That one was awful. I also think the one they got Grant on for being 'demonstrative' was pretty ridiculous. There is a difference between chewing out or even showing up the refs and whatever they're getting the Cs on so far this season. Of course Tatum's T last night being the cherry on top.

I'd love to see 'them' do something about it, but that's definitely not going to happen. Tatum has been painted as somebody who gets technicals and they will forever be looking for opportunities to give him one. They have to maintain control over the game after all.  ::)

I know this is a different situation, but not entirely, and now we can no go back and look at your Lack of Composure thread (and my thoughts in that thread) and see that there's a pattern here of how refs are handing out techs and not necessarily a problem with our composure. Which is a valid point overall, just not always the case.

Just the same, we need to adapt to the new reality. Doesn't remove the crap the refs are doing.

Both Tatum's tech and Grant's should be rescinded by the league as both were no where near what should be required to be actions that lead to technical fouls.

And, the NBA should review last night's tape of this officiating crew as that was perhaps the worst officiated game I have seen in over a decade. Travels that weren't travels. Offensive and defensive fouls that weren't close to being fouls. Missed offensive goaltending calls.

The foul on White for grabbing the rim when he didn't even touch the player was quite egregious. Brown's offensive foul for being pushed in the back, coming to a halt and being run into by the offensive player was ridiculous. White being run over multiple times with no offensive foul being called. Two traveling calls against Brown that weren't. The two techs. And that's just the tip of the iceberg and doesn't include a bunch of bad calls that OKC got or were no calls on.

Consistency in officiating is all I want. From quarter to quarter, from half to half, from game to game and from officiating crew to officiating crew. The officiating into today's NBA is more inconsistent and variable than an MLB umpire's strike zone from the 1990's to 2000's. And it's ruining the game.

I just watched the Donehy doc on Netflix.  It sure looked like that sort of thing for God’s sake.  Celts win.  Thunder covers.

It actually takes a lot for me to hate on the refs because I get that they’re human too and are going make mistakes.  And I’m not going to go conspiracy theory, but yeah, they really had an off night last night.

they may be human but last night's officiating was inhumane

I've actually started tracking how refs do against the spread, to see if there's money to be made when online gambling opens up in MA this spring.

I have no issue with the refs controlling the game but I see far worse around the league then what tatum does without seeing players getting the Tech.  It just looks like Tatum is targeted in this area.  I mean how do you expect the players to show no emotion.  I get you can't go after a ref.  I get you can't verbally abuse a ref but showing emotion and frustration is just human nature.  The refs are not consistent and let some players get away with a lot more then others.  JT is a top 5 NBA player but gets the respect from the refs as if he's a rookie.

I will say JT has to stop Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing on every time he has contact made without a call.  I'm sure the refs are sick of that.  I also can't stand when he Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.es, dogs on the play and the other team scores because he doesn't get back.  This happen 3 to 5 times a game and it drives me nuts.  Sell the foul.  If it's not called get back on D.

Yup and on the very next play, the OKC player did the exact same thing--Clapping his hands after a foul called...and NOTHING happened to him.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

The @NBA is rescinding Jayson Tatum’s technical foul from last night, the hand clap called by John Goble, according to an NBA source. #Celtics.

Problem is what happens when one of these horrible techs cost the C's the game.  They are not only momentum killing issues but 1 point could be the difference between the W or L.

The ref should get a fine for such a terrible call.

a small mea culpa on the league's part but they should have rescinded the one on Grant as well.   refs have an itchy tech trigger finger with those 2.
