Lakers just announce that Anthony Davis will be out indefinitely..other words, for rest of season probably..stress fracture in foot takes long time to heal especially if u running up and down the court

Unfortunately for the Lakers, they are unable to trade LeBron due to the recent changes he made to his contract. This has resulted in a lost season for the team, which most around here will find enjoyable.

As much as I like seeing the Lakers struggle, I just read that their somewhat-better play of late has their GM thinking about making big moves (such as trading for Zach Lavine) to try to keep things heading in the right direction. I'm hoping, of course, that doesn't happen, but because they're the Lakers, they have a much easier time climbing out of holes than other teams, and it seems like other teams (inexplicably) often want to help them, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the Lakers turn their season around. The NBA doesn't want a postseason without its golden boy.

What in the world are you talking about? The only free agent of note they have signed since Dwight Howard like ten years ago is Lebron who went there for non basketball reasons. They didn’t even make the playin last year. They massively
Overpaid for Davis bidding against themselves. People act like they are some boogeyman but they have one 1 Mickey Mouse title and a ton of lottery trips in the last 15 years.

Well there’s the 2 they won in 2008-2010.   That’s 3 championships in the last 14 years.  Historically they’ve always had access to top 3 players in the league - not always via free agency.  But top players have found their way there.  Not saying never through solid moves by their management but sometimes because top players pushed their way in.

They haven’t worked out but we have signed much more all star free agents than them in the last 10 years. Hayward, Horford and Kemba versus Lebron (who again went for non basketball reasons as his lackey windhorst has announced.)

Technically you are correct, but there is a gulf a mile long when you talk about signing Kemba, Horford, Hayward... than when you sign Shaq or Lebron..    Do you expect any of the current top 5 players to decide they want to play in Boston?  Will you be surprised if any of them decide they want to join LAL?

Hehe, I mean the Lakers were gifted Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Kobe AND LeBron. They even lucked into Magic with a compensatory pick AND a coin toss.

Luring stars to the big city has always been the LA formula. Can’t blame them, but free to dislike ‘em!

Man Lebron with goaltending at 5 seconds left to give Charlotte lead. Curious if they will score to tie or win here.

Lebrons shoe falls off, ball kicked out to Schroeder who misses a three. Lakers fall to 13-19 with AD out indefinitely

Well deserved! It looks awesome too! Dirk's legendary one-legged fadeaway is arguably the second most unstoppable signature move in NBA history behind only Kareem's sky hook.

Kind of interesting and fundamentally American.  An honor bestowed upon a German man by a Jewish man on Christmas Eve.  Beautiful.

Yeah, I’m stumped on that one, too. Denver was out of challenges, but somehow the refs reversed the charge call on their own due to him moving? I was under the impression they could only reverse that call if in the restricted area, which is what they said they were checking.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Jokic is unbelievable

He truly is. Definitely underappreciated. In the alltime ranking of centers he should be really high.

#1 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
#2 Wilt Chamberlain
#3 Bill Russell
#4 Shaquille O'Neal
#5 Nikola Jokic
#6 David Robinson
#7 Hakeem Olajuwon
#8 Moses Malone
#9 Patrick Ewing
#10 Joel Embiid

I'd have Duncan 4*, Shaq 5, Olajuwon 6,  Malone 7, Jokic 8, Robinson 9,  Howard 10, Embiid 11.

Jokic is top ten for sure. Ewing is out.

East is starting to get crowded. Cavs, Brooklyn, bucks, 76ers all within a loss or two of each other. Bucks seem to bee reeling too. 3 losses in a row all to playoff teams.

Technically so are the Celtics in the loss column. but they have more wins so are 1.5 games ahead of Milwaukee.

1 Russell  (centerpiece of the team that won 11 titles in 13 years and had 2 college titles to boot)
2 Wilt
3 Kareem
4 Shaq
5 Hakeem
6 Moses
7 Jokic (depends on the rest of his career -- probably passes Moses and possibly Hakeem if he has a long career)
8 Duncan (even though he spent much of his career at PF with Robinson at Center, Duncan was this good)
9 Robinson
10 Ewing (could see Embiid here but he's just too fragile)
