Would be good use of a TPE.

Celtics, Heat interested in Willy Hernangomez

If anything, the Spaniard is playing less than before. With 11,8 minutes on the floor, he’s had the least time in play since he got to the NBA in 2016. With a lack of playing time, rumors about his departure from the Louisiana team are emerging. Reportedly, Hernangomez is on the radar of the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat.  – via EuroHoops.net

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I'm not understanding this reported trend of NBA playoff teams looking to dump reasonable contracts.  NOP is below the tax; why disrupt things?  If there's another move the Pelicans are looking at, then sure, clear the roster space.  But dumping a guy just to dump him seems weird.

His brother took issue with us and made some comments after he left. Wonder if that would impact his willingness to play with us?

I've always felt like he was very productive and solid in his minutes, but just couldn't carve out consistent time in a rotation.

Playing on a contender and money softens the past I’m thinking

Maybe he’s unhappy there as his minutes have gone down significantly compared to the last two years. Pel’s might prefer having a second round pick or two over a 3rd string center. Who knows..

There must be some tax loophole available to billionaires that the rest of us are unaware of or don’t have access to. I’m beginning to think that the whole salary cap tax is smoke and mirrors. Whatever they lose paying up front, they write off and recoup somewhere else.

This is probably an instance where they can claim a lose on investment or something similar. A salary isn’t usually considered an investment (even though it’s an investment in productivity), but I’m sure there’s some way to claim a contract as underperforming. (lol)

When the Celtics kept Rozier rather than moving him at the deadline in 2019, it felt like a wasted asset to many, and I think that’s the same motivation with some of these teams.  He’s a solid player at a position where they have a logjam, so might as well get something for him rather than letting him walk for nothing in the off-season.  Also, you might intend not to make the trade unless you have something else lined up, but you can float around to see if you get an offer that’s worth it even without that second deal falling into place.

The Boston Celtics are in the market for a big, league sources tell Bleacher Report. The defending Eastern Conference champs are seeking to add injury insurance behind Robert Williams III and Al Horford, two players they have to carefully manage during the regular season. – via Chris Haynes @ Bleacher Report

They should have done that from the beginning with Thomas Bryant. Guess Blake Griffin and/or Noah Vonleh were better options at the time

What makes you think they weren't in on Thomas Bryant?  I suspect they were but the Lakers was a better opportunity for him.

But yeah, Bryant would have been a nice add.  Just what we need.

Thomas Bryant actively chose the Lakers, where he's gotten 21 starts and averaged 22 minutes a game as he rehabs his value.  He made the right decision for himself, but the C's didn't turn him down.

Yeah, the Celts were the first reported team with interest in Bryant.  He chose the Lakers.  Perhaps Brad could have put on more of a full-court press, but he was familiar with LA and has gotten an opportunity to start, so it's hard to criticize.

While Marcus Smart will likely remain out for the next week-plus, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford and Malcolm Brogdon are all back for the start of the home stand tomorrow against the Knicks.
