Jaylen Brown out again tomorrow (no surprise there since Joe Mazzulla said 1-2 weeks). Malcolm Brogdon is questionable due to personal reasons

We beat Charlotte by 35 in November without Jaylen, Al, and Rob, so this is a good weekend to let some guys rest up/take care of personal things.

A shoutout to one of my favorite Celtics, Derrick White, the only rotation player who hasn’t missed a game. Able to fill gaps left by Marcus, JB, and Brogdon when they’re out. Starting almost every game, playing smart basketball, making plays on both ends. Always brings energy.  Love that he’s a Celtic.

Please don’t jinx Derrick White’s health.

Sad to say the jinx did happen.

Hah - yes, I mentioned it in the game thread and offered a mea culpa!  I blew it.  TP to you and Celtics2021.

Back at you sir! All good!

This is excellent news.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Looks like we dodged a bullet there. Hopefully JB is back vs the Warriors.

While Jaylen Brown has missed the past three games because of adductor tightness, the Celtics guard is nearing his return. Brown practiced Wednesday and went through drills, but he isn’t guaranteed to play in the Celtics’ game Thursday against the Warriors at TD Garden

Brown said he’s on track to play and he’s going to be fine going forward. “The ultimate goal is to be healthy going into the playoffs,” Brown said. “So any time something comes up — hamstring and the groin and all that type of stuff — it’s kind of hard to read sometimes. So I think the training staff did a good job of being a little bit more cautious.” – via Souichi Terada @ Booth Newspapers

The fan in me obviously wants him for the Golden State rematch.  However, my head is saying that its January and a just a regular season game.    This injuries are tricky and can be reaggravated pretty easy.  Don't rush back.

With a week until All-Star starters are announced, Jayson Tatum has grown his fan vote lead over Joel Embiid for the final frontcourt spot while Jaylen Brown has passed James Harden for the runner up backcourt spot. Fans count for 50% of total vote. Players/Media split other 50%.

The Celtics have a 34.2% offensive rebound rate with Robert Williams on the court. That dips to 23.9% when he’s on the bench. Basically, they’ve been the equivalent of the league’s best offensive rebounding squad with him in the lineup and one of the very worst without him.

This is very apparent.  He clearly gets after it and plays closer to the rim.  It is hard to offensive rebound when you have 5 guys at the 3-point line.

Jaylen Brown on chasing Steph Curry in first game back from groin strain: “...that was a perfect way for me to make my introduction back into the lineup.” Brown defended Curry for a team-high 40.5% of Curry’s floor time, per NBA tracking. Steph vs JB: 0-2 FG, 3 PTS.

That's a pretty wild stat.  That said...  Didn't the 3 points come on an And-1, where Curry hit a mid-range jumper where JB caught up with him and fouled him?

(Corrected) From Sultan of Stat, Dick Lipe: Tatum (34 pts, 19 rebs, 6 ast, 3 steals). Only other Celtic to ever reach all those marks? Larry Bird at Lakers Feb 1981 (36, 21, 6, 5, 3 blk) JT only 2nd Celt to make at least 10 FT in consec games w/o miss (Isaiah Thomas Dec 2016)

I want to see that Larry game.
