Davante Adams has been charged with misdemeanor assault for shoving a credentialed media worker.
Adams was cited for an "intentional, overt act" that inflicted "bodily injury," according to court records released Wednesday.
There's no real criminal risk there. Misdemeanor assault -- especially for a shove -- is almost always pled down, and even if convicted it's generally a fine.
But, I'm sure this photographer has already lawyered up and his medical bills are already growing rapidly. Next step will be hiring a high-priced psychiatrist for the humiliation of being shoved on national TV.
For the NFL, it will be interesting to see if this is a fine or a suspension. If he shoved another player who fell down, it's either nothing or a fine. If it were a fan who ran on to the field, nothing or a fine (doubtful). A fan in the stands? Certainly a suspension. Where does a photographer fall? It probably depends upon the level of publicity.
