Generally bad teams don't blowout other generally bad teams on consecutive weeks, even more so when those games are on the road.

The Pats' shut out the Lions who were at that point the best offensive team, based on stats, in the league. They then shut down the best performing running back in the league. They made Aaron Rodgers look silly bad for most of that game.

I said it before, if you know anything about football and Belichick teams, there is simply no way this team only wins 6 or 7 games. The defense is too good. Belichick teams always get better as their seasons progress.

I said 10-7 to start the year. I see no reason to change that prediction.

I hate to say this because I agree with you about BB teams of the last 20+ years, but I don’t see post-Brady teams (yet) as quite the same in terms of getting it together down the stretch. But, in addition to BB, there are hopeful signs that this team could continue getting better.
well the 2 seasons post Brady the Patriots have closed each season losing 3 of the last 4 regular season games, so you know the opposite of finishing well.

They also lost 4 of their last 6 in 2019 (playoffs included) and IIRC, went 2-2 the final 4 weeks in 2018 with Brady. For some odd reason it's an issue the team has. Maybe some of it is injuries, fatigue, guys getting worn down.

Last year in particular it seemed like Judon, Barmore, etc. faded down the stretch. Judon dealt with COVID but I also think it has to do with workload. I just hope they do a better job managing the workloads. The 2nd half schedule is tougher but also, it's obviously a longer season than before with the extra game so that's definitely a factor.

It's also why for guys like Mac Jones, Lawrence Guy, etc. I'm not advocating they rush anyone back if it's not needed since we're in a softer part of the schedule, and also because it's more important to have our guys healthy and more engaged in the 2nd half and potentially into January

Looks like Bears' DL Justin Jones will be on a mission Monday Night to check for any possible deflated footballs with the Patriots lol

Mac Jones (ankle) is expected to start Monday night's game against the Bears, barring a setback, Jeff Howe of The Athletic reports.

Seems pretty aggressive to bring him back only a few weeks after suffering a “severe” high ankle sprain. Will be interesting to see how he looks out there.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Bill is singleminded when it comes to injuries. He wants his players back ASAP. Teddy Johnson and Gronk’s camp have complained about this. If there’s anything to complain about regarding Belichick, it is this.

I do find it a little weird that nothing formally has been announced still with who the starting QB is tonight. We've heard the reports obviously but nothing officially official. Even Schefter on ESPN basically said "it's a mystery". 3.5 hours until gametime. Maybe it will be Zappe after all?

Feeling bad for Mac right now. Complete garbage playcalling and he hasnt even really been given a chance to throw and we got the fans chanting for Zappe. The mind boggling play calling is killing me

Wow, Chicago really is punishing Boston (both teams) tonight so far.

Looks like Zappe hour now. Wish they wouldve ran some of those plays for Mac but nonetheless great play and great effort by Meyers on the TD

Yeah, it was a bonehead INT but the play calling for Mac was awful. If Patricia is going to call a great game for Zappe and he can produce, great, play Zappe. But man, give Mac a chance by calling the same game for him.

Mac should have never started this game. There was no reason for it. Let him continue to heal up and ride the hot hand with Zappe. That’s what would have been best for the football team. Now the Pats have a QB controversy and it’s going to be awful for both Mac and Bailey.

Mac appeared very healthy.

Yes, BB created the controversy unnecessarily tonight, though Nick’s right - to my eyes Mac looked pretty healthy.

I would say it’s Zappe’s job right now unless he falls apart. Not 100% fair to Mac, unless Bill knew what he was doing and knows Zappe is QB1.

The patriots have an awful defense. They can’t stop a nose bleed. Bears doing whatever they want of offense. Belichick gets pants by the Bears right now.

Bears are actually running an offense suited to Fields tonight.  Strange it took them this long to figure it out, but Fields need freedom to move around and scramble (or designed runs).  He is a much better passer when he has his legs working, it just opens everything up for him.
