I think we are all saying more or less the same thing. I see possible final roster spots in 3 broad categories:
1. Glorified G-Leaguers (No expectation of useful minutes)
2. Useful Vets on Min Contracts (expect "insurance" regular season minutes)
3. Rotation players fitting a TPE (regular rotation (top 8 ) with some play in playoffs)
It is worth adding say $10M of salary for a player that makes the top 8 better. Gallinari and Brogdon fit this. At this point, there is not much need or opportunity to improve the top 8. It is not worth to pay this much it for an insurance player though. We should not pay more than vet min or a small equivalent TPE for this level of player. I hope the team will add an insurance big at least and it wouldn't hurt to add an insurance wing.
We will also fill a couple of slots with glorified G-Leaguers, hopefully ones that have some real upside promise. That is not necessarily a bad thing. We want a win now mentality but you can do that and still have a couple of slots at the end of the bench for this level of player. Kornet probably does not fit the upside promise part of this. He is a little better than a glorified G-Leaguer but not quite a useful insurance big. I am fine with him on the roster, so long as we do add that legit insurance big too.
