Boston: Duncan Robinson (TPE)

Miami: Payton Prichard, 2 x second round picks

Sign Thomas Bryant (1 year minimum)

Boston Celtics

C  - Horford - Bryant - Kornet

PF - Williams III - Williams - Gallinari

SF - Tatum - Robinson - Hauser

SG - Brown - Brogdon

PG - Smart - White

That’s a championship rotation.

In saying that, Stevens has repeatedly stated the Celtics were ‘unlikely’ to be using a TPE on a key player, so this scenario won’t come to fruition unfortunately.

If Boston really wants to win the title next year, then they should absolutely use both TPE's.  They have the roster room and there are still pieces out there that are gettable and would make a title more likely.  I get the salary would be huge, but just go for it this year and reduce salary next year if necessary.  You want to play with the big boys, it is time to act like it.  Brogdon should have been the start, not the end.

Am I alone in thinking we should add more players to the end of the roster? Guys that can play in a pinch.

Weren't you also the guy complaining that we weren't doing anything again?

We don't have room for much, other than maybe a backup big at a cheap price.

Which the Cs are supposedly looking for per BRobb, but who knows who.

The Celtics have three roster spots left open after also agreeing to terms on a deal with Luke Kornet on Friday. A league source tells MassLive that Boston expects to fill one of those spots with a backup center.

I don’t like Robinson at his current contract.  Miami should have to spend at least a #1 to dump him

Yup! Just go for it!

Year 1 of tax payer, just went to the finals. Go all in!

The window is open and it can close in a heartbeat. No time like the present!

I completely agree with you, Duncan Robinson is overpaid.

Why I want Robinson is because his playing style is exactly what our roster is lacking, he’s someone who’s a 3 point specialist and constantly moving off the ball.

Himmelsbach said there's no longer any talk of the Celtics using the big TPE.

Brogdon was probably our big move. And a team that gets within 2 games of a title probably shouldn't be making a ton of moves.
Correct, plus there's still a ton of time to see what happens in SL, for example.  Doesn't seem like doing much more right now makes sense.

I don't trust these reports. How many of these reporters saw the Brogdon trade going down? or the Derrick White trade? Celtics are very good at keeping their cards close to vest. Plus with all the market volatility (Spurs tank, Jazz restructure, Nets blow up, etc.), there could be a really good player becoming available who would fit into the Fournier TPE.  July 18 is over 2 weeks away.

It doesn't make sense to tell the world you're still looking to use the large TPE even if you are at this point. I doubt that there are known available candidates that will tickle the fancy of BS (like MIA's Robinson, for example), but there's a lot of market uncertainty right now, and some new names might shake free. I don't expect anything but a vet-min contract for a 3rd string center.

I believe Hauser could fill this roll for a lot less money.

There has to be a point where we trust that the roster is complete and I’m there. We were two wins away from the title, have a young, durable core, and are betting favorites to win the title.

With 9 players already scheduled for regular minutes plus Pritchard and Hauser, this team doesn’t need a player with a big salary on the bench in case of emergency. Udoka struggled distributing minutes in blowouts, I wouldn’t put him in a situation where he has to find minutes for 10-12 players.

There are several open roster spots that should be filled with the right vet minimum players for Championship enthusiasm, practice, spot minutes, and garbage time. I trust Brad to do just that.

I don't Ime will have any problems just playing who he wants to play. Teams win championships.  The more players that can play the better. I hope they all stay ready. It's a long season and you never know what you'll need.

Monster overpay. Miami should give us assets for absorbing that contract, given they benched him. Giving up a good bench shooter + 2 picks is unnecessary

TPE might end up gone. But I understand on the wait. Have to see Ayton, and KD situation before pulling the trigger unless it's a deal too good to pass like the Brogdon one.

Would Luke Kennard be a better fit for this team than Derrick White now that we have Malcolm Brogdon on board?

I like the idea of having a shooter like Kennard. I'm not sure a big defensive combo like D White has as much value now that we have a big combo guard like Brogdon who can maintain our size advantage and defensive structure at PG while Smart rests.

For me depends on if Smart and Brogdon both start. If only one starts than I feel White or PP should be moved.

I still think the cs need 2 more vets.  Bryant would be a great get ad a deep bench big and fill in for Rob.  Tj Warren hasn't signed but he should get more then the vet minimum.  If he doesn't he's the missing piece.  He can keep the js fresh and gives the team another bench scorer.  The cs are 10 deep but still need that backup wing and big.  I'd even be happy with seeing how summer league plays out and if anyone who went undrafted last year or this year deserves a shot.
