I'm very happy with this deal.  I really felt like the Celtics needed a true #1 point guard and Brogdan is that type of player.  And at 6'5 he has good size defensively for the position as well.  This really fits with what the Celtics want to do.  Add Gallinari to the mix to stretch out the defense and the Celtics are looking in great shape right now.

Might be easier to bring Brogdon off the bench in terms of keeping everyone happy in terms of touches and shot attempts.

I wonder if it may be difficult keeping Brogdon, Jaylen and Tatum happy and all as involved as they would like if all three are starting.

Bringing Brogdon off the bench allows you spread their minutes a bit easier and distribute shots and touches easier. Keep 2 of the 3 on the court at all times to maintain the offense. Finish the game will all 3 on the floor.
Given the struggles at times last year and the finals I'm changing it up. Bring Al off the bench. He is 36, coming off the bench he may smoke teams and dominate more.

Start
Brog, Smart, JB, JT, TL
Bench
PP, White, GW, Gallo, Al
I don't think you can start Tatum at PF.  He is at his best at SF and I don't want him guarding and being guarded by bigger guys for large portions of the game.  Sure here and there he is fine as a smaller PF, but not starting.  That is why I was glad to see Udoka starting Horford and Rob (and them being able to do it).  The roster has to be about maximizing Tatum and to do that he needs to play SF as much as possible.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

One of the things I loved about Popovich's successful Spurs teams of recent was his ability to use his players interchangeably.  He would regularly play 10-11 players per game, sometimes 12, and he would make decisions based on what he thought best in each game.  The players knew their roles and delivered.  They played unselfishly and generated good shots by moving the ball.

I hope we can achieve something similar here.  This roster now has even more versatility and talent.  It will require some sacrifice, but the opportunities to cement a large role on a successful team is still there.

Alright. I'm really excited now.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Mmmm, Malcolm Brogdon rookie of the year, (first 2nd round pick to do it since 1965).  Had a 50/40/90 season in 2019, 3 years after he was drafted.

Celtics just got A LOT better if he stays healthy.  Wouldn't be surprised if Indy held him out longer than he needed last season with the intent to trade him.

1 - Brogdan, Smart, PP
2- J Brown, White
3- Tatum, G Williams
4- Gallinari, Horford
5- R Williams, Kornet

Looks like we need another big.  Kornet would be a huge downgrade if Rob Williams misses a few games and he usually does, let's be real.  Even if we rotate in Horford to replace Rob, then that creates a hole at backup 4.  So another depth big seems to be needed.

I like it, the move, but he is oft injured.  When healthy he could be a huge upgrade.

Now I hope we can get a backup wing or big with the MLE

If you added Brogdon and Gallo to last year’s Finals, the Celtics are champs.

Yup exactly.  Things are different now, its a go.  Last season wasn't 'supposed' to happen.  Celtics are spending now for the first time since the KG era.  Time to actually try with the roster, this is gonna be fun (As long as health accommodates).
