this is awesome news, I have always like Brogdon.

My only MINOR concern, is how to balance minutes between him and smart?
White came here to be a backup.  Smart solidified his starter position last year.  Brogdon has pretty much started every game he has played since his 3rd year.
Are we going to start both Smart and Brogdon?

Brogdon is 6'5" and could play at the 2. The starters could be Brogdon, Smart, TIMELORD, Brown, and Tatum. More passing, shooting, and ballhandling.

I lean towards bringing Brogdon off the bench. Keep the starting five as is and maintain that defensive identity with the two bigs and Smart at PG. Then bring Brogdon off the bench as a creator and 3rd scorer who can give you lineup flexibility and change the flow of the game.

I love Brogdon.  Put him and Rob in a bubble suit till March.

Add Brogdon without losing a rotation player - got to like that.

Just trying to get an idea of Brogdon's injury history:

'17: healthy enough (only missed 7 games total)

'18: missed 30 games with partially torn left quadriceps tendon

'19: missed 12 regular season games + 8 playoff games with plantar fascia tear in his right foot

'20: variety of minor injuries.  Missed 3 games in Nov with a sore back.  Missed 3 games with a hamstring, came back 1 then missed 5 with a sore back between Dec/Jan.  Missed 2 games with a concussion in Jan, missed 3 games in Mar with torn left quad (might have been more but season was suspended due to Covid).  Missed 2 non-consecutive bubble games with a sore neck (one of which was probably a rest day though).

'21 missed 10 games, right hamstring

'22: missed 5 games early with sore hamstrong, missed 40 games with sore right Achilles then sore back (but was it exaggerated due to Pacers trying to tank?).

At least it's not knee injuries.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Minutes for White?  Or is a White or Smart trade the next shoe to drop?

so starters       Smart / Brogdon / JB / JT / Timelord
off the bench   PP / White / Grant W. / Gallinari  / Horford

or

bench            PP / Brogdon / White / Grant / Gallinari

Not sure which is better.  We were pretty darn good with our starting 5 that last half of the season.

I would think there are plenty of minutes available for the three combo guards and the two Jays at the three perimeter positions. Then you have Al and Rob as starting bigs and Gallo &/vs G-Will for backup big minutes.

I would only trade Smart or White if we were getting a really really good two way wing player. I like the balance as things stand. So no need to force a trade. Those guys can all play together in lots of different combos.

So, do we think it means white or smart(better not) are getting moved for a big?

Brogdon when healthy is going to play serious minutes for us. His last playoff series in 20, 21 and 10 assists per game(they only a played four games though). His FT percentage is lights  out so end of games are a yes.  When healthy he can really help disrupt the other team. I think he will flourish on our team.

I have a strong feeling another show is going to drop, most likely to Hawks but we will see.

One of them can start at SG and the other at PG. Then White and Pritchard can back them up respectively

Interesting that Brogdon is a Players Association VP. Between him Brown and Grant, lots of “political” activity off the court.

Top 9 rotation
Guards= Brogdon, Smart, White
Wings= Tatum, Brown, GW
Bigs= TL, Al, Gallo

PP still on the outside and GW not the best wing option. Would team consider adding one or both in TPE trade for a Wing?

You can also get Smart and Brogdon time at small forward. Both can cover bigger players.

The 2nd option is least disruptive to team continuity/identity. However, the 1st option lineup will happen a fair amount, I predict. I also expect Bryant to get 5-10 mpg.

I would advise White not to buy a house. I also think there's a good chance the PP isn't on the opening night roster.

Might be easier to bring Brogdon off the bench in terms of keeping everyone happy in terms of touches and shot attempts.

I wonder if it may be difficult keeping Brogdon, Jaylen and Tatum happy and all as involved as they would like if all three are starting.

Bringing Brogdon off the bench allows you spread their minutes a bit easier and distribute shots and touches easier. Keep 2 of the 3 on the court at all times to maintain the offense. Finish the game will all 3 on the floor.
