I find it hilarious that a few of the posters getting really super excited about this Trevion Williams signing and the Davidson pick are some of the same people that complained about our inexperienced/bad bench and how it cost the Celtics last year.
I think it's excitement that these additions will be complemented by one or two veteran signings.
Meh. We have seen this excitement before similar players only to see they weren't NBA players.

Carson Edwards: My god what a great tourney run. He's our next Eddie House

Tremont Waters: What an awesome defender. We have an Avery Bradley that can pass.

Jordan Mickey: The next Bill Russell(remember that one)

Tacko Fall: 7'5"...7'5"...7'5"...Embiid will never bother the Celtics again

I can go on but I think you get it. 40+ years of witnessing the reality that these 2nd round/undrafted guys rarely turn out to be anything, has hardened me not to get excited about them at all. It's why I will never understand people getting all hot and bothered about trading away second rounders. To me, they are worth next to nothing.

You mean my excitement for Summer League basketball will fade as I get older!? I hope not...

Following these fringe NBA players ... I kind of take sick pleasure in it. I had a blast watching the Brad Stevens Celtics - from Jameer Nelson, to Tayshaun Prince, to my faves - Jordan Crawford and Evan Turner, and Jae Crowder who actually become super good for a 2nd rounder.

Of course, the reality is there's only like 400 spots, and for each team only 8-10 will actually play with any regularity. (Though there is also significant roster turnover each year).

All I want to know: Is he better than Bruno Fernando? Nothing else really matters.

His passing is great but there are a ton of question marks with him and he is a long shot.    I wish him well, he has been working hard on his body.   Sometimes those guards that grow have great skills.

I think if the finals showed one thing to me, and I knew this before the finals, is that  it will catch up to you if you skimp on a bench  with G league level talents.   We could have really used some vets.

nick, we all get it. we all realistically know that TW resembles the best case of the proverbial snowball. but we also have hope. we hope that THIS ONE will be the one that breaks through and becomes a credible player...dare i say star?

this is summer league and everyone wants to enjoy the games, just as many of us enjoy buying lottery tickets. We know we will lose, but then again, maybe not.  ;D

for me, summer league and all the players there are like an annual version of Family Guy's mystery box...which might even be a boat.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

It showed all year and in years past. You have to have a bench. You have to develop young guys or bring in vets that Ime trusts. He should trust all 15 with playing time during the regular season and have 9-10 deep for the playoffs. Hopefully this year Ime will feel secure enough to develop a deeper team.

Given the way Ime uses his bench, there are always going to be a few spots on the roster that will go to developmental players and then you have the 2 way guys and the Maine-only guys.

Personally I like following that group to see if any of them develop.  And I'll be interested to see who off last year's 2nd half roster sticks around as a few of those guys were there mainly as roster filler.

What a great list...brings back memories.  We could use some of these guys right now...Ryan Gomes is rarely mentioned on this board, but he was an excellent 'glue guy' who hit a shot once in a while...was always a fan of Leon and Baby, classic undersized power forwards.

Trevion wasn’t drafted, but maybe he can break the Purdue curse?

JJJ and Carsen Edwards didn’t do much in green.
