I think Boston has another gear that they can ratch things up to physically. Suddenly Rob and Al are stuffing shots left and right, we're clogging every passing lane, snatching every loose ball.
Generating easy looks on the break.
Golden State does not have this same gear anymore. They are wily, they are skilled, but when we get going it is like a bunch of rampaging tigers out there.
All the great teams have this extra gear. The Russell Celtics were famous for it. The Showtime Lakers. The Jordan Bulls, the LeBron Heat. Golden State used to have it. It's hard to win without it.
I think Draymond Green is the only guy on the team who had that extra gear both now and in years past ... but they've worn him down over the years by over-relying on him to be the team's sole energizer.
The only guy capable of firing up the team with toughness and hustle, pushing the pace with his ball-handling, getting extra possessions for his team with rebounds and forcing turnovers, being aggressive and driving to the hoop, getting easy shots for others.
Steph gives you a little but only when his shot is falling and he is in a zone. If he isn't in a zone, he gives you nothing in terms of having that extra gear. Finding a way to push through when things aren't going well or when the other team increases their intensity or physicality. Klay gives you even less. Never Wiggins.
It is has always been Draymond. He is the heart and soul of that team.
