Posted on another thread - I posted earlier that this team has earned my support when it comes to responding from adversity. They've proved it all the way through this second half of the season. They're a young and growing team, but they've got a decent amount of playoff experience. They're far from perfect and they will make mistakes and play poorly. But they're shown me that they have heart and resilience and fight, even if their execution or their mentality wavers at times. This isn't the "same old Celtics team" that's disappointed us for years. I was always confident that we would win this series, but I had a feeling it would go seven because that's how long this team needs to be able to get over its mistakes and learn from them.
I'm confident going into the Warriors series. It won't be easy, there will be times they will have fans tearing their hair out and slitting wrists. There's not going to be many games where they will win by 30 points and cruise to victory and the fans will be happy and relaxed. There's 2 teams playing and they both want to win. The Cs are still vulnerable to those mental lapses that can cost games, like almost happened last night at the end. We have to respect the ability of the opposition to disrupt us, and the team needs to maintain a healthy respect for the opposition at all times, because if you disrespect them for even 5 min and not put in 100% that's when you can lose games.
Maybe that will be easier to do in this series, because while it was easy to dismiss Miami as "a bunch of G-leaguers" Golden State has a much different pedigree. Steph and Klay will severely punish any mental lapses. But I think we were the better team against Miami, and also against GS, even if the Warriors have their Big Three, so do we. I think it will go 7 because the Warriors have loads of experience. But if we play the way we can play I think we should win.
So Cs in 7, it's been 12 years since we were in this position so let's enjoy every minute of it, the ups and downs
