Amazing. Brown literally fouls Smart like he thinks he’s a Buck on the game clinching play — and y’all are talking about Grant Williams.

Its unfortunate...but i think its 2 guys on same team going for a rebound...but i gotta watch it 23 more times to make sure

https://youtu.be/wYtgiAYG0Ig
Smart charged from outside and ran into Jaylen getting the ball which knocked it to Portis.

Smart totally combusted at the end of this game with bad play after bad play all while White was having his best game and Ime took him off the ball. WHY?

17 offensive rebounds given up.  just inexcusable.  giving up 10 is horrible but if they corral those 7 other boards, C's win
The majority of teams average over 10 offensive rebounds a game. 17 is a terrible effort, but 10 is not reasonable to expect now that Lopez is healthy.
speaks volumes about the C's only getting 5 then and we typically don't give up 10
Yep, the disparity is the real killer. If we got to our average (10.6 regular season, 9.5 playoffs) we probably get 2-4 second chance points at LEAST
if we played our good offensive scheme, we'd have had players in place to rebound but with the crap iso plays and rushed shots early in the clock, we didn't have players in place under the basket.  not having Timelord also makes a huge impact on rebounding on both ends -- particularly offensive boards.

I mostly agree but can understand it from a player’s coaches standpoint…you play and trust “your” guys…smart just let him down

Everyone has covered the bad play. Grant Williams playing 30 minutes is a key reason as to why the game was that close in the first place.

So a key reason the Cs lost tonight was… Grant Williams? Where exactly on the list of reasons for said loss does “Grant Williams” lie?
I would have thought it fairly obvious. Failed to score in 30 minutes of play, came up with costly turnovers, played fairly bad defence on Giannis (besides drawing one charge), gave up silly fouls, and got 2 rebounds in 30 minutes as the starting 4.

Him playing over Theis, who was huge, was a terrible decision.

See — I would have thought the Cs leaders basically abandoning actual basketball up 14 with a few minutes to play, or maybe Brown literally fouling Smart off the game sealing rebound, a little more important than how many minutes Theis — a player you called “embarrassingly bad” in last game’s thread — played. Or, how many points Grant had?

But whatever floats your boat.

The Celtics lost the game with about 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Bucks were playing to win, while the Celtics were playing the clock. Ime has to take responsibility for that.

Meanwhile, Holiday treated Smart like a b!&$# in that last minute. Smart should just hand Holiday the Defensive Player of the Year award if Milwaukee ends up winning the series. I can't remember one player punking another player that badly at the end of a big game.

Yeah, don't think you can blame either of them there. That's just an unfortunate accident of two guys going for the ball.

Actually, rewatching it, it may actually be JB's fault. Not necessarily for hitting Smart, but he left the box out of Portis to grab the ball, leading to Portis getting it. Portis slipped high and JB was the guy in front of him boxing him out at first before going for the ball. Dumb. Not sure how much you can really blame him there, but it was certainly the man from his side and his responsibility that led to the basket.

putting Jaylen in a spot to be a primary rebounder for a crucial rebounder is a boneheaded move by Ime.  needed Al, Theis and Tatum as the 3 C's rebounding in the lane for that

Crazy thought - someone can actually be disappointed in multiple things at once! Theis was embarrassingly bad the previous game, but he was clearly feeling it tonight and getting into good spots. The coach failed us.

Looked like it was part of the hero plays Smart was trying to make at the end of the game. Just a series of brain farts. I would've rather of seen Tatum jacking up threes than whatever it was Smart was doing.

White was finally having a great game but Ime put the ball back into Smart's hands.

Timelord's gotta play next game. We need size and length. Secure those rebounds.
