Shams says possible torn meniscus.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1508467783931031557

If this is true then he's done for the year.  4 week recovery then rehab.

If "the year" means the rest of the regular season, I suspect you're right.

But, let's hope we can adjust in the playoffs until he gets back.

I actually just had a meniscus repair and there was no rehab/PT.  I think it depends on the severity of the tear.  Obviously I am not an NBA player but I am 51 and I was cleared to exercise without restriction in 4 weeks.

No worries guys. This will go as well as the time when we thought KG just had a minor knee strain.  ;D
looking like this is closer to the truth than we'd like   :(

The Celtics just signed Juwan Morgan to a 10 day contract. He’s supposedly a GWill type of player. This could mean rest days are coming for JT and JB?

On Rob Williams, i hope he can still come back by the playoffs. Theis and Horford are gonna be very busy while he’s out. I also don’t think we can hang on to the #1 seed if TL misses a significant amount of time. Let’s just be healthy by playoff time and see how it goes!

You're not bringing in anyone who could fit right into the rotation the way these guys defend. You move forward without him.  Unfortuantely Theis vs Embid and Giannis doesn't quite work.  Also they become easier to defend because you don't have to worry about the lob.

This stinks but it's also pretty obvious that Rob is always going to be injury-prone.  This has to factor into the team's long term thinking.

Well, if its a month plus rehab. Best case would be to have him in time for 2nd round/Eastern Conference playoffs, right?

GWill and Theis will need to step up big time. Let’s see how they respond vs the Raptors.

This team should be able to make the second round without Timelord - not doing so would be an upset. I even think that would be true against Brooklyn because they have no size anyway. Second round I still think with a favorable matchup the Celtics should win. They’ve been playing that well.

So if we can hold out until the ECF, that’s maybe 7-8 weeks from now. Will depend a great deal what the prognosis is. I guess we’ll find out.

Can't really say much without knowing the severity.  Best case scenario, 3-4 weeks and maybe we see him in the second round if we get there.  Worst case, we don't see him again this season no matter how deep our run goes.

The wording - that the Celtics "fear" a torn meniscus - makes me lean towards the latter being more likely, but I might be reading into it too deeply.

Given the way this team has handled injuries in the past (IT is the one I'm thinking of - but if you want to go way back, McHale) if I'm Rob, I'm in no rush. I'd also retain an independent physician to work with the team's doctors.

JT was guarding KAT on a few possessions during the Minny game. I think we’ll see more of that with TL out indefinitely.

I guess this is the problem when you need to rely on a very injury prone player. Hope he’s not out to long but figure he’s going to miss at least 3-4 weeks and for a team that has zero depth to begin with, this is very difficult. Cs may end up with the 1st via good fortune and tie breakers but seem like there’s a good chance they could be a first round exit at this point.
