The real miss was Maxey.

I wanted Nesmith, but predicted Maxey. Always bet on Kentucky guys.
:o   James Young.  Enough said.

Lol …that was my first thought too.

We should have selected Sadique Bey.

I mean I hate to say it as I know Nesmith is still young and maybe he can show improvement just like Grant Williams this season compared to last. But as everyone on this thread is implying, there were a lot of guys to be had that we passed on for Nesmith, and quite a few of them are doing well for their teams and playing key roles in some cases. Bey, Maxey, Anthony, Quickley, etc. And yes, a few guys later like Bane which we could have had for a later pick but traded away.

Unfortunately for this season, Nesmith doesn't even seem to have any role, just a body when someone gets hurt (like Jaylen this past week although Nesmith sadly suffered an injury too). Even in a 9-man rotation, Nesmith would be healthy scratches essentially

Complaining about Ainge’s misses while you root for a team whose top four players are Brown, Tatum, Smart, and R Williams is rich.

I’m sorry that Ainge was not a perfect drafter.

You might as well add Grant Williams in there, too, who is looking to be a great value pick at #22.

Yes, Ainge may have missed on some mid-1sts, but we only had those mid-1sts because he so badly ripped off other teams in trades. Would anybody be batting an eye if we had taken Tatum #1 and not had the Romeo pick? What if all we got in 2015 for Jeff Green was a 2nd instead of the Nesmith pick? Don't like James Young? No worries, we got Tatum and Brown (and Kyrie) using the other picks from BKN.

Echoing these sentiments

The other misses are good points. Cole Anthony was a kid that plays with a huge heart and is a legends son. He's avg 17ppg 6 and 5, for an awesome team jk.

Cole was the 15th pick, 16th pick was Isaiah Stewart who is already a walking double double at 20 years young.

17th was Poku who is very interesting.  18th was green he kinda stinks, 19th Saddiq Bey who's doing awesome 16ppg 6boards

20th Achious, who I like on the Raptors , 21 was Maxey.

That's a big opportunity to grab a good player. I think the Anthony miss was huge. I felt much better about him than Maxey pre-draft.
I wouldn’t bring up Poku - he is utter garbage.

But Nesmith still has time. Many were bemoaning Grant over Brandon Clarke, but now Grant is a much better fit for us than Clarke. Patience is a good thing.

That being said, I really wanted Saddiq Bey
Unless someone gets injured down the stretch, it’s possible nesmith has played his last meaningful minutes for the Celtics.  I know it sounds dramatic but he’s now injured, isn’t in the rotation, and who know what happens in the offseason.

I wonder if any team could be lured into trading for him. Maybe some rubbish team like Houston?
