Derrick White, 26 years old, fifth NBA season.

Career averages of 11 points, 3 rebounds 4 assists with 34% from 3. Has decent size at 6'4. What do people think? I feel like we payed A LOT and I also fear the history of players looking worse when they get out of Pops system.

Gave up a solid rotation guy, a first and a pick swap for a mediocre player who can’t shoot with $55 million left on his contract…I hope the brad experiment ends soon

Panic move by Brad because other teams in the East made deals.  Wow, what an overpay!

He's at 15/6 this year. Ime coached him and must be a believer.

I am fine punting the season, we are not beating the Nets this year with Irving, Simmons and Durant. If they somehow get injured or lose, we are not beating Bucks or 76ers either. However, the 2028 pick swamp seems absolutely ludicrous.

A pick swap is normally not that significant.

The Spurs have done nothing for half a decade that suggests they will  be better than the Cs in another half a decade when that pick swap would happen.

White locked Jaylen Brown up last time we played them.

Derrick White just isn’t a player you give up a first round pick for. Period.

Ime was one of his coaches at SA.  Maybe he knows more about White than meets our eyes?

And maybe he’s just a poor judge of talent?

You might be right but I hope you are wrong.

Welcome to Boston Derrick White.

The Good:
DW is absolutely a foundational piece on a fair contract. As others have mentioned the Udoka connection clearly had an impact here so he should be able to slide right in and build on the recent success. I am all for continuity and Marcus Smart/Derrick White/Dennis Schroeder(?)/Payton Pritchard is an excellent guard rotation for a team that is so stacked on the Wing.

If the Celtics actually are who they have appeared to be this last month, this team might have just turned from a B+ to an A.

The Bad:
Josh Richardson was great for us while he was here. Luckily for him, he absolutely rebuilt his value and managed to get an extra year at $12 Million for his trouble. Happy trails bro.

The Ugly:
That 2028 pick swap is one of the most chaotic assets I've ever seen. Could be essentially nothing, the difference between 12-17. Could be the move that sets up the second Spurs Dynasty if Tatum leaves and we implode that year.

White is a heck of a player on both sides of the ball and can create for our core guys. This is easily a win for Stevens.
