Jeez people seem about as excited for White as they were for Lafrentz.

I like Derrick White.  Guy can play.  The pick swap makes me nervous but I'm fine with the rest of it.  Have to give value to get value.

Be salty about the trade if you want - disliking it is certainly defensible - but directing your angst at the player is just silly and misguided.  He didn't choose this.

Isn't he a similar player to Smart?

Yeah -- just less good. I've stated for a while now I don't get fans fetish for White.... unless we're trading Smart.

They seem very similar. Not the same but similar. Size, shooting, defense...

White is a better player then Smart.  He's a much better scorer and distributor.  Hes bigger.  He can play along side Smart as well.  I love Derrick White.  Just not the pick swap down the road.  I also hate not having anything to look forward to in regards to 1st round picks but this year seems like a weak draft where the C's will be picking.

He's definitely better at keeping the ball moving than Smart. He's a more efficient player inside the arc too. I think he's got upside to be even better also.

We don't need any more projects sitting on our bench that will never play.

I was excited with the Raef trade, not this one!

White is a heck of a player on both sides of the ball and can create for our core guys. This is easily a win for Stevens.

yeah I don't get why people are down on him.

They're not down on him.  They're down on overpaying for him.
