It's a pretty normal thing for rookie coaches to rely heavily on vets, I think.  Brad did it too a lot of the time.  Ime is in a tougher spot than Brad was because he (1) had no experience as a head coach prior to starting and (2) he took over a team that is actually expected to win.

Two things here: 1) re: #2 above, Brad's teams were expected to be competitive too, were they not? and 2) despite this, Brad played quite a lot. Granted, Walker was injured with frequency, but i don't think there's any question Stevens had a longer leash with PP than Ime.

"pattern of just wasting picks"

Do we really need to trot out the statistics again, that show Danny as a league top drafter?

Yeah, keep trotting out statistics... That'll prove that not keeping Bane was the right move.

Yeah, keep trotting out statistics...

Here you go.

First article I found on google whilst looking for "nba draft success statistics".

Danny no.2 in the league.

Your "pattern" is in your mind. It's a figment of your imagination fuelled by confirmation bias.

Oh, so this means that not keeping Bane was a good move, thanks! My point is Bane would've been a great fit here instead of the nothing we ended up with. What's the argument against that? That and the pick last year are the two picks we traded away.

Brad's alternative was Carson Edwards and Tremont Waters-2way started 3 games to PP's 4

m8. Seriously.

I clearly was talking about your "pattern of just wasting picks" line. That's in your head man.

Two lotto picks sitting on our bench say hi! James Young also says hey. Only two wasted lotto picks Young was 17th.

I just disagree that two second picks are better than Bane. Let's agree to disagree. Memphis is very happy.

What? Jaylen and Jayson said hi? Awesome. They're on the bench due to blowing out teams lately, right? Tell them I love their work and hope they stay Celtics forever!

Last 6 first round draft picks two lotto: Nobody(last year pick traded to dump Kemba) Nesmith, Pritchard, Bane ( Dump draft night for two 2nd round picks traded away for a couple of months of Fournier rental) Romeo, Thybulle ( Dumped) Both of the dumps was to save money. What do you think you could get for 6 first round picks?

Turns out, you start playing better, you see more minutes on the court :)

It's remarkable how much of Boston's rotation was drafted by Danny Ainge.

Horford, Theis, and White were acquired in trade. Everyone else was added by Danny's management team in the draft. At this point, Boston's 10th man, Aaron Nesmith, was also acquired by Ainge in the draft. Whether he'll be in the playoff rotation or not is uncertain at this point, although for the next few games at least we can expect that he'll get some run.

I think, btw, that Nesmith is currently undervalued by fans; that he's got the skills to crack the rotation; and that there's a slot available for him as the third wing.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021
