I smell smoke right now on a Smart <> Collins swap......

I don’t know why you smell smoke there but I think this would be one of the few trades for Marcus I’d be excited about.  Why does Atlanta do this trade?

Think the obvious framework is Smart and Horford for Collins and Bogdonovic. I suspect the Hawks ask for more, but Brad resists on the basis of being willing to take on Bogdon’s money, considering he’s overpaid fairly substantially. I think Stevens would relent and include either Nesmith or Langford, but not Grant or a 1st round pick.

If the rumors out of Atlanta are accurate, Collins price may not be very high — and ATL is very warm on Marcus next to Trae.

That it’s the Hawks may be the biggest issue for Brad.

It's probably easier just to share the link

Never heard of this dude, but Smart for Collins doesn’t work salarywise.  Celtics would have to send out $4 million extra, which would require a player in addition to Romeo/Nesmith, or if not one of them, 2-3 minimum salary players.  Feels pretty unlikely and 100% made up.
Oh yes because it is so hard to add Fernando and some cash so they can cut him.

It’s the 3 minimum players with the Hawks only having one open roster spot that I’m pointing out.  Also this guy is who??

I think Brad doesn’t risk moving Smart, with how our defense has been performing. This is just too much of a hot streak to tamper with team chemistry. It’s a pity we can’t see how this current team performs against the top tier squads before the trade deadline.
This is how I feel. The Celtics are up to #2 in DRtg for the season and Smart is the tip of that spear. He also seems to have locked into this pg role in the last few games. If it sticks, I don't see why Brad would trade him.

The Celtics went 3-3 without Smart when he was out that stretch in January. Since he came back they're 8-1.

You definitely have more work to do with this trade. The Offense should take a step forward but the defense at least one step back. It's easier to get guards than big men.

There’s a series of ways to make it work. I’m just saying the Smart <> Hawks connection seems to persist.

People continue to underestimate Smart, even after the last ten games or so have thoroughly proven how valuable he is to us.

Not opposed to trading Smart for a clear upgrade and fit, but I don't think Collins is the piece to do it for.

I don’t know if the rumor is true, but it’s win/win either way.

If we make the deal we get a legit 3rd piece and a talent upgrade.

If we don’t make the deal, we keep the hottest nucleus in the NBA.
CelticsBlog 2005-25 Fantasy Draft Commish - OKC Thunder:
PG: SGA (24-25, MVP)
SG: Klay Thompson (14-15)
SF: Kevin Durant (13-14, MVP)
PF: Evan Mobley (24-25, DPOY)
C: Rudy Gobert (18-19, DPOY)
B: JKidd, Vince, KAT, Siakam, Bam, Rose (MVP), Danny Green

A TIMELORD/Collins frontcourt is so good for years to come.
