After consecutive 10-day contracts, the Boston Celtics are signing forward Malik Fitts through the 2022-2023 season, agents Nick Blatchford and Derek Jackson of UNLTD Sports Group tell ESPN. Fitts’ deal for next season will be partially guaranteed.

Fitts over Martin surprises me a little.

Assuming Martin is not also signed on, we have an open spot.

This is where what the coaches and Brad sees in practice is what is important and should be trusted over a few YouTube vids of the players.

So often we fans think we know so much from small game glimpses about players. But it is the constant eye of the coaches and GMs that see players in practice that 99% of the time have the right of it with the young and inexperienced.

Martin had some good minutes with the Pacers...

And yet, Fitts has next to no game experience. Could it be the Celtics see so much more of him in practice and he is consistently showing himself to be better than Martin? I think, yeah probably.

Yeah, I hope so too.  I really liked the shooting I saw from Martin's highlights while on the Pacers.

Celtics now in 4th.  Home court first round if it holds.  Who would have thought a few months ago.

Just keep banking the wins.  Keep the mindset.  Don't lose even a bit of this Mojo.  Win every game, every quarter, every possession, right through the end of the season/playoffs.

To think Brown is not playing up to par. White was 0-8. Injuries are all that can stop us. I see another ECF With hope. IME still needs to work end of game calls but he has EVERYTHING else moving forward I hope to see some rest days for Our Starting 5.

Assessing where we stand as of the last several weeks:

Starters:  Smart, Brown, Tatum, Horford, RWill

Brown has been a little up and down but still good.  Other than Brown, everyone else is absolutely peaking.  Can't really expect things to be any better right now.

Core Bench:  Pritchard, White, GWill, Theis

We don't have a true back up wing in this group (Nesmith may emerge but time is running out on this season) but this is a good bench.  White is on the upswing (improving from 0-8 to 2-8), Pritchard seems to have found his shooting confidence again, and GWill/Theis give us quite a bit of versatility as back up bigs.  Joking aside on White, he has been useful, probably slightly better than Richardson and Pritchard has been roughly equal to Schroder, but he needs to figure out his shot.

Deep Bench:  Nesmith, Hauser, Stauskas, Fitts, Kornet

There are some potentially useful players in this group as 3rd stringers but you can't expect much from any of this.  I think we are at 14 right now so there is one more slot.  It would be nice if one of these emerged as an actual playable back up wing.  As of last night, Fitts now has 12 total NBA points over 2 seasons, 4-9 (44%) from 3, just say'in.

BTW, where has Kornet been the last couple of games?

Solid 3-point shooter for sure - and a reputation as a strong, engaged defender.

Celtics upgrade Aaron Nesmith to questionable with his right ankle sprain ahead of tomorrow’s visit to Denver. Nesmith has been out for two weeks since leaving the Memphis game.

I was encouraged when I heard he was making the West Coast trip with the team.  It’d be nice if he were able to go for the OKC game, since that’s a back-to-back against a weaker opponent.

He really should play in Maine until right before the playoffs. Build some confidence and get as much in game experience as possible.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yup. Let C's see what Staukuas can do in their scheme. Have Nesmith get g-league run. Even g-league practice time might be good. Just going up against new players he might learn some things.
