I agree that Tatum is better than Booker And Mitchell.  It is to be seen if he is in the Durant league yet. In my mind probably still closer to Booker than Durant. But gaining ground on Durant all the time.

But he doesn’t have to be as good as Durant. KD is a sure fire top 15 all time player and Tatum just turned 24. Tatum being a borderline top 8 player and part of the most dominant starting lineup in 2 decades should count for something. We may not be the favorites in the East but we’ve been the best team in the NBA for 2+ months now.
2023 Non-Active, Non-NBA 75 Historical Draft, SAB Bulls:

PG: Deron Williams 08 / John Wall 17
SG: David Thompson 78 (HOF) / Hersey Hawkins 91
SF: TMac 03 (HOF) / M.R. Richardson 81 / Tayshaun 07
PF: Larry Nance Sr 92 / Blake Griffin 14
C: Lanier 77 (HOF) / Brad Daugherty 91 / Camby 07

I agree.  I am all in on Tatum.  My original point was to wonder how well the not quite superstars hold up against the superstars in the playoffs.  Superstars tend to get all the calls on top of making big shots.

Still getting the media in Boston chuckling at Celtics fans thinking we have a chance at the Finals because of this run. I think a lot of that is made up of fans afraid to get their hearts broken after getting their hopes up. They definitely have a chance. I think it’s crazy to think they don’t. I’m all in on these guys. They deserve the faith. I’m willing to let my hopes get crushed for this group. Go Celts!

Yeah that’s true, the calls matter. I’ve been saying for weeks that Philly doesn’t scare me, the Philly refs do.

4-game western road trip:
GSW, SAC, DEN, OKC
I'll be happy with 2-2 but I think they could go 3-1 with Denver being the only loss....

The Celtics have a chance, yes.  I am thrilled to see them finally getting it together and playing well.  We have a terrific young team.  But like it or not, the Nets with Durant and Kyrie, Philly with Embiid and Harden, and MIL with Giannis and anyone, are all still better teams (if healthy of course).  We have closed the gap, we can play with these teams in a 7 game series but it is hard to imagine we would be the favored team.

PHI has been inconsistent and may not have it all figured out this season and that could be an opportunity.  MIL beyond Giannis is not all that scary so of the 3, they may be the least talented overall but they are together as a team.  They are not trying to integrate new pieces.  And BKN could be flaky.  They may find a way to beat themselves.  So if everything goes wrong for BKN, PHI, and MIL and everything goes right for us, sure, there is a scenario where we get to the finals.

If we can somehow get to the finals, I think our chances against PHO,UTA, GSW or whoever are actually better.  Those teams scare me less than the teams in the east.

After consecutive 10-day contracts, the Boston Celtics are signing forward Malik Fitts through the 2022-2023 season, agents Nick Blatchford and Derek Jackson of UNLTD Sports Group tell ESPN. Fitts’ deal for next season will be partially guaranteed.

My guess is that the partial guarantee will be similar to what Parker was signed to last year and Hauser is signed to this year.  In both cases, the second season was completely unguaranteed if released by the start of free agency, and then a small guarantee through training camp (Parker $100k, Hauser $300k).

Does Staukas also have that guarantee or is he fully unguaranteed?

Stauskas’ deal fully guarantees on July 15th, nothing partial before then.  So all or nothing two weeks into free agency.

This is where what the coaches and Brad sees in practice is what is important and should be trusted over a few YouTube vids of the players.

So often we fans think we know so much from small game glimpses about players. But it is the constant eye of the coaches and GMs that see players in practice that 99% of the time have the right of it with the young and inexperienced.
