4 behind Miami!
With just 15 games left I doubt getting to 1st place is in the cards given the schedule and need to leap over 4 teams.

But I do think 2nd or 3rd place is in play if the team can go 10-5 or better.

Well they have gone 17-3 for their last 20.  Granted the schedule will be tougher, but they know how to win.
Do we really want to finish 1st or 2nd and risk getting the Nets in the 1st round?

I’m good with the 4 seed. Home court for the first round and then Miami. I want no part of the Nets early on.
wrong way to think of it.  look at it as getting to send the Nets' bunch of ring chasers home early and let Kyrie wallow in the misery of knowing the team he quit on and the fans he badmouthed just sent him packing.

I just hate that a team who is a 9th seed can still make the playoffs by winning the play-in games, even if they're like 5 games behind the 8th seed
and the 7th best team might be out entirely if they lose 2 games in a row.  I've never liked it.  One time during the covid season, sure, but I just don't see the point.  I rarely am thinking that the I really with the 9th place team made the playoffs let alone the 10th place one.

Jokic is a basketball cheat code these days.  Just ridiculous.

Some of his stat-lines are unfathomable. 30 or 40 point triple doubles with shooting percentages often above 60% from the field, and he simply drags this weak Denver team to victory.

For those that have been just looking at the stat lines this is the some of the stuff I have been talking about. It would appear Lebron and the rest of the lakers have quit.

I’m not sure any of those fit your narrative.

The first one is the worst play, but it’s not due to lack of effort.  The others; meh.  Lebron passes the ball to a teammate for a potential game winner.  He gets frustrated because Westbrook blows an easy layup.  The Lakers show no effort down 12 with 25 seconds left in OT.

This is just nit-picking.  Lebron shot poorly and the Lakers lost to a bad team.  The selective video clips aren’t very persuasive.

Just scanning through some box scores, MIN beat OKC last night 132-102.  Malik Beasley had 33 points.  He had 17 3pt attempts (made 11) without any 2pt attempts or FT attempts.  That has to be some kind of a record.

Towns only had 13 pts on 5 shot attempts so I am guessing OKC doubled him hard and left the Beasley open but still.  That is a strange stat line for Beasley.

MIN is really coming on.  They are now the 7th seed, 2.5 gms behind Denver and Dallas.

That's fascinating.  For the season, he's only averaging 3.0 2PAs per game, as compared to 8.4 3PAs.  That's a big decrease in shot attempts from 2PT as compared to 2020 and 2021.

I thought there were some reasonable examples of lebrons inconsistent effort on defense and impact on morale. They actually have a lot of advanced data on his defense over on silver screen and roll but I won’t try to convince ya. (Also I obviously didn’t create these clips just to be clear).

You know things have gotten bad when you've lost Laker/Lebron apologist & resident idiot Fox hack Nick Wright.

He's the ultimate front-runner, and for this reason I am just incredulous that people can think of a player like this as the greatest of all-time.

He jumped to Miami to play with two other superstars after Cleveland's roster looked inadequate, then went back to Cleveland when they'd procured an all-star PG and back to back #1 picks, then to LA where he was paired with a dominant big man. At every place he leaves a scorched earth. Would not be surprised if he tries it again and leaves LAL holding the bag.

His defensive effort in so many circumstances has been laughably bad. Don't tell me it's because he plays a lot of minutes and needs to save himself on the defensive end. Jordan played in a ton of minutes, in a much more physically brutal era, and still managed to be DPOY and all-defense most of his career. Great players give great effort, even when times are challenging.

You'd do better with me using the stats rather than the videos.  The four posted didn't scream "unacceptable effort" to me.

The Lakers morale is definitely in the toilet, though.  But, most people would agree that KG is one of the ultimate leaders, right?  I love the dude, and he energized this team to a title.  He set the culture.  But, do you remember '06 and '07 when he was playing with guys like Ricky and Blount?  He was broken, sitting out games and going through the motions.  Think about that:  the ultimate amped up player that so many of us idolize was going through the motions.

I think that's what we're seeing from Lebron.  Of the guys actually playing right now, is he the only one who is above-average for an NBA player?

Only the middle one of the three was bad effort. The first was an error rather than a lack of effort. The second was lazy getting back on D after his teammate missed a wide open layup that LeBron setup on a platter for him. The third was LeBron choosing not to close out because it was a bad three point shooter which is a defensive decision that he has made for a long time in trying to force low percentage shooters into taking shots they are bad at.

Only the 2nd was an example of quitting.

Even Windhorst and Stephen A. throwing shade at Lebron over on ESPN. Never thought I would ever see that happen.
