Lanford with 7 pts and +13 in 16 minutes. Pretty decent. Hopefully he'll get more playing time as he progress with the spurs

So ESPN is running a story about how Russell Westbrick doesn't like his new nickname.

He referred to an anecdote told by a teacher at a parent teacher day about his son Noah who "writes the name Westbrook on everything - he is so proud of his name", and that now he will be taking a stand against any name calling which disparages his name.

This is an anecdote written by trickybilly about Russell Westbrick.

Oladipo with a nice first game back after 11 months away.   He can really help the Heat as he adds a nice element to them.

Umm…Jokic having an insane night.

46/12/11
He is averaging 26/14/8 with 57% FG for the season and leading the league in +/- .  He's my vote for MVP but I bet Embiid wins it.

He also has a much larger on/off per 100 possessions than Embiid, which is a key metric for value (at least in my mind).  I don't think Jokic should have won it last year, but he should win it this year (the only reason it is a question is Jokic is a poor defender, he just been so good offensively I don't think it matters).  I'd actually have Giannis at 2.  I think he is being overlooked, but he is the best player in the world and is right there statistically with Jokic and Embiid.

So if I had a vote, right now, my ballot would be:

1. Jokic
2. Antetokounmpo
3. Embiid
4. DeRozan

I don't think anyone else deserves a mention.

I mean, sorry to say Russ but I'm pretty sure this nickname has been used a lot even when you were on other teams.

But I will say, it's ridiculous that he's the only guy on that team getting criticism for the Lakers' season. If you ask me, Anthony Davis deserves more. Even when playing and while Lebron was out, he clearly couldn't carry the team despite being a "Top 75 player all time", and nowadays I feel like you only see him dressed up on the sidelines as if he's competing for best outfit each game  ::)

Westbrook hasn't actually been much different than last year but he still gets scapegoated a ton. Amazing to me that AD escapes all the criticism somehow

I mean AD does get criticized for being fragile and missing so many games. Barkley regularly refers to him as “Street Clothes” whenever he is out, which is frequently. In regards to Westbrick, I mean Westbrook... why not use it as motivation and hire a shooting coach? Heard Drew Harlan was decent. That nickname has been around since he was in OKC and him bringing attention to it is only going to make the opposing teams fans use it more.

Westbrook was actually +5 in the game last night, the Lakers were -12 in the 13.5 minutes he was on the bench.  But that pretty much illustrates the fundamental problem with the Lakers roster i.e. it is just a steaming pile of garbage.  If they had Davis, James, and Westbrook all healthy at the same time (even with Russ' poor fit), it would mask a lot of the other issues the team has, they've just had so few games this year where all 3 of those guys were healthy.   Davis missing time has to be expected, same with Lebron.  That is in fact why they made the trade for Westbrook i.e. they wanted a ball dominant lead scorer for the games Lebron was going to be out, they just didn't do a good job at all surrounding them with quality enough players.  Just re-signing Caruso, Matthews, Shroder, and Drummond would have significantly increased the talent on the team, but they just didn't do it because they didn't want to pay that much luxury tax.  The end result is a terrible team.

yup, Langford's no bust as was proclaimed by several of the Immediate Gratification crowd around here.  I have little doubt he's going to blossom in SA under Pop.

Curious to see how this trade plays out this year (provided Romeo stays healthy) and next after SA uses the pick in this draft.  If JRich is still in SA next year, I seriously suspect that trade is going to look really lopsided in SA's favor.

Langford was just so annoying because he know it’s just a matter of him staying engaged . Cause you know the talent there..I definitely think Celtics gave him loads of chances last year and this year.

He's not a bust but hasn't performed like a lotto pick either. He needed a change of scenery. He couldn't do any better than to play for Pop. I wish him the best.
