I commend all of you for sorting this out. Like tstory I lack the math skills but more so the perseverance skills to stay with it.  Bottom line (I think) based on what you are all saying is that with a little maneuvering Shroder can be offered the non-taxpayer's MLE.

What does that leave to offer to Milsap?   I think C's still have their bi-annual exception (3.7M) but wouldn't they be better to save that for next year?

Just because I like to daydream about this stuff…

Sign Schroder.  On January 15, trade Smart + Timelord + Romeo + picks for John Collins.

How good would this core be long-term?

Collins
Tatum
Brown
Nesmith
Schroder / Pritchard

No reason to save the BAE, there's a good chance we'll end up renouncing it to clear cap space next year or unable to use it due to being over the apron

Better wait and see if RWill is not better than Collins....(at least for a team that's already loaded...or will be... offensively)

I've been having a similar daydream but with Siakam

I think Siakam is a good fit here. A big three of Tatum, Brown, and Siakum is a really good fit.

Using the BAE triggers the hard cap. I don't see that happening as Brad might want to pull an in season trade that might move the team over the apron.

I'd rather take a flyer on someone like Bagley.  Bagley for Smart works financially.

Yes, but in this scenario we were already using the full MLE which would do the same thing. Overall I agree that we'll try to just use the mini-MLE instead

Great long-term core, and in the short term the pairing of Collins and Horford would be awesome. Perfect complementary duo on offence, and Collins' defence is improving. I'm not sure Schroder would stick around long-term, but that's okay because I'm higher on Pritchard and Yam than most ;D

It doesn't bother you that he's essentially the same player he was as a rookie?  He's been remarkably consistent as a 14/7 guy who can't pass or do much of anything positive on defense.

Maybe getting out of Sacramento will do wonders for him.  Bigs can take longer to develop too, and sometimes the light eventually comes on like it did for Randle.  Saying that I’d only be interested in Randle if the Celtics feel they can develop him much further.

He has also played 118 of a possible 226 games. Best ability is availability
